01' Buick Century "Check Engine" light?
I recently had a Check Engine light diagnosed as an EGR Valve Code. After replacing the EGR Valve, two months later, the Check Engine light has not gone out and when I scanned the codes again, the same EGR valve code pops up.
Does anyone know what gives????

After a repair to the emission system, the cars on board computer must be reset and driven for a set amount of miles, usually 100. To reset the computer, remove the negative battery cable for a few hours then reconnect. The light should go off when the computer detects that the new EGR valve is functioning properly.

Since you've replaced the EGR, I'm quite sure that's solved the mechanical issue. To clear the code, you can either use a OBD2 scanner in the port on your dash, or you can remove the ground wire to your battery for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute to purge the code from your cars computer. Then hook the ground wire back up to the battery.
Hope this helps you.

some of the systems are a little more complex than the code would lead into. if it said anything about insufficient flow, the passage to or from the valve may be plugged up. the light should be reset or you should look up a drive trace pattern and match that for a few days to run all of the systems through the normal self tests.

THere si a senosr to the VACUUM that leads to the EGR valve that might be causing this issue. ALSO if your EGR is clgged up, you will ALSO need your THROTTLE BODY and IDLE AIR CONTROL VAVLE cleaned up to SHOWROOM clean. BOTH sides fo teh butterfly valve within the T body will require FULL CLEANING UP! I use AMSOIL FOAMING CLEANER aned GUMOUT to do this. GM has typeically poorer air/ fule ixture systems that will cause SLDUGE and clogging up of converter, EGR vavles and other expensive sensors. GOOD LUCK!!

the check engine code only tells you there is a problem in that system, it doesnt diagnose a bad sensor
