How to treat hot spot on a cat?

Its on the back of her neck. I think its a reaction to frontline. Its itches and she scratched a hole in her neck. I gave her oral antibiotic from the vet but she is still scratching. He suggested tying socks to her feet to stop the scratching. Bandage she scratches off. Am considering benedryl or cortizone cream instead of triple antibiotic to put on her neck. The vet suggested the antibiotic to put on her neck. Any suggestions?

You need to shave away the fur so it can be treated easily then bathe twice a day with warm salty water. A topical steroid and antibacterial based cream would treat it best - it is designed specifically to treat wet eczema (which is what a hot spot is). You can get this from your vet and it is called Fuciderm.

i would go with what the vet says and try some hydrocortizone cream on the outer edges of the infected spot. if you do not have hydrocortisone cream, try dabbing skin, not infection, with a cottonball dipped in peroxide.
