Popular culture is loaded with myths and half-truths. Most are
harmless. But when doctors start believing medical myths, perhaps it's
time to worry. In the British Medical Journal this week, researchers
looked into several common misconceptions, one of them being the
belief that a person should drink eight glasses of water per day. "We
got fired up about this because we knew that physicians accepted these
beliefs and were passing this information along to their patients,"
said Dr. Aaron Carroll, assistant professor of pediatrics at the
Indiana University School of Medicine. "And these beliefs are
frequently cited in the popular media." Myth: You should drink at
least eight glasses of water a day. Fact: "There is no medical
evidence to suggest that you need that much water," said Dr. Rachel
Vreeman, a pediatrics research fellow at the university and co-author
of the journal article. Vreeman thinks this myth can be traced back to
a 1945 recommendation from the Nutrition Council that a person consume
the equivalent of 8 glasses (64 ounces) of fluid a day. Over the
years, "fluid" turned to water. But fruits and vegetables, plus coffee
and other liquids, count.

She will have to have a determine-up at the doctors first, to examine if she has any clinical issues which will also be affecting her weight. If the surgeon thinks that she is overweight, he can aid you come up with a plan for her to be extra lively and eat extra healthily so as to aid her drop extra pounds and become more healthy. You didn't mention your daughters age. Some pre-teens and younger teenagers will attain some weight before they have a massive growth spurt. Do not nag your daughter about this, she will only safely lose a couple of kilos per week to ensure that her to maintain it off. I am definite that it took her lots longer than 3 weeks to position the burden on, so it'll not come off in that amount of time. Good success to you and your daughter.

My exercise trainer (a professional female body builder) told me the standard amount was eight glasses, but it could be more or less than that depending on activity and health. She told me if you ever get to the point where you feel thirsty, you've already allowed yourself to get dehydrated. The more yellow your pee is, the more water you should drink. Pee should be a very light to nearly clear color if you're properly hydrated.
So, unlike the most interesting man in the world, I will tell you, DON'T stay thirsty, my friend. And keep an eye on your pee.

I would say 2 liters should be minimum. But you can safely drink up to 5 if you are more active and even if you are not its still good to be hydrated. If in your place it's very hot, like 30° - 40°C, then maybe even full 6 - 8 liters a day, especially if you work out...

Well most doctors, nurtritionists and all those people will tell you 2 litres per day. But I drink about 3 litres a day. My doctor told me as long as you're active and sweat and urinate regularly the water actually cleaneses all toxins out of your body and helps lose weight. He told me you can basically drink as much water as you want because it has no calories, sugars or other various nasties in it. But as a minimum it's 2 litres.

It depends on your lifestyle and how much physical activity you do in a day. But basically, 8 glasses of water is still the best amount no matter how much you weigh.

It does NOT make sense that everybody needs the same amount of water because we are all different sizes. My doctor told me to divide my weight in half and that is the number of ounces of fluid I should intake in a day, but that also includes fluids from foods. So you need 68.5 oz of fluid a day.

Six glasses day. More if you are active or in hot enviroments.
