The Coptic Christians belief hold closer values to the Paul Gospels that Jesus was Crucified before the foundation of the earth and also they hold closer to the theology of the ancient Gnostic. Coptic Christians were one of the first Christian groups in the world along with the Gnostic, Orthodox.

It is one of the earlier denominations of Christianity. They broke from the Eastern Orthodox Church over some highly technical matters dealing with the nature of Christ.

Which matters actually caused the split is still disputed to this day. I don't know enough about it to say exactly what the difference is, but it's not all that different from generic Christian denominations.

I think some have split off from the Coptic Christian Church now and became the Coptic Catholic Church, in communion with the pope.

Your question was probably sparked by the film made by an Egyptian Coptic Christian about Muslims. What is relevant about that is:

Since the Muslims conquered Egypt the Coptic Christians have been persecuted non-stop. That is over a thousand years of persecution.

Over the past 20 years or so about two million Copts have been killed or driven out of the country by the Muslims. Coptic churches are burned, men and children are killed, women are raped before they are killed. Property is seized, and in most of Egypt Copts cannot worship in public for fear of violence.

Isn't that man terrible who made the film about Muslims? I mean, shooting that film is certainly justification for burning and murder. However, burning and murder and shooting Coptic Christians is hardly justification for making a film.

They are the Egyptian Catholic Church.

They are being murdered left and right by Muslims.
