Is it legal to hunt on a farmers field that near by residential houses?
Today I seen a hunter set up some dummy ducks and is off to the side in a hunting trailer. He is only 150 feet from the road and is aiming towards the road which has a house on the other side.
Is that legal?

State laws vary...... Here in New York you have to be 500 or more feet away from a dwelling..... Dwelling = House, Cabin, mobile home, apt building.......

Each state sets its' own laws regarding how far you must be from a dwelling or road to discharge a firearm, but I've never heard of a state allowing something like that.
The thing is that people have been doing that for years now. Some people just do it for so long without anyone saying anything that they assume it's legal.
He shouldn't be shooting towards a road that close. He should also be using a proper backstop. Is he?

In most places I think you have to be 50 yds away from a house so as long he has permission it's legal
