My boyfriend has a rash on his groin?
It looks just like chaffing but he seems to be discomforted by it. Its right by his balls too. It looks really red and it said it itched a but but kinda hurts and is really dry too. Should I be worried about this? is it still ok to have sex?
we know its not an STD

Do not involve into sexual activity before you find out if this rash is a skin condition due to allergy or an infection caused by yeast or a virus. I would not worry about STD at the moment since it's red and dry. Most STD are painful within the urethra and not settle on the groin or in the close vicinity until after it spreads from the penal site in untreated case. A swab of the area for culture would resolve it. A simple Gram stain made from the swab taken from scrotum site would show yeast/pseudohyphae under the microscope indicating yeast infection that can be easily treated with anti fungal agent available at the drug store. No prescription is required.
I would not suspect it to be Herpes Simplex since you described it a dry reddish area. Herpes simplex causes reddish or pink fluid filled rash that releases fluid upon burst opening at maturity.
If the symptoms do not resolve, your boy friend needs medical attention.

There are many reasons for rashing. There are various infections (STD's and not) that can result in rashing. Reactions to heat and humidity can also cause rash (also called "prickly heat"). Is there any drainage? That is a good sign of infection that should not be ignored. Regardless, seeing the doctor is the best choice. If there is infection, it needs to be treated before it gets worse. Meanwhile, I would suggest stopping all intimacy (oral, manual or otherwise) until he is seen and treated.

Sounds like a sweat rash .Go to the pharmacy and get some cream. If it doesn't start to get better in the next day or two then go to the Doctor. leave sex for a couple of days until he is more comfortable
