I am in real pain from coughing so much, my ribs really hurt and the top of my back is really sore.?

I was wondering how to soothe the pain because painkillers don't seem to have any affect. Many thanks

Have you addressed the reason your coughing. If the coughing is that bad, then you need to fix that in order to fix your pain. You can try ibuprofen, aleve, or some other type of NSAID as well as some ice. However, if you continue to cough, the pain won't go away. If you're just not shaking it, then I'd get to the doctor. If it's caused by a bacteria , then the doctor might be able to give you an antibiotic. Not to mention, the only time i've ever coughed so much and so hard that it caused pain, I ended up having bronchitis. Sorry that I can't offer better advice, but sometimes going to the doctor is the best thing you can do. GL

If medications don't seem to work, then I think it's time you see a doctor as soon as possible.
