Do people honestly think Taylor Swift can sing?

I can't even BEGIN to wrap my head around this concept. She is so awful, it's crazy. She might be able to write a song (and I am beginning to question this with her brilliant "we are never ever ever getting back together" song) but she really needs to keep that damn mouth closed. Why do so many people (girls in particular) go apeshit over this talentless chick?

I'm not sure, but I think it's the relatablity of the lyrics. Many girls feel like they've been in situations like her songs describe. That, and many people are just tone deaf.

Actually, Taylor probably doesn't write her own songs. I am a songwriter and gave the singer her stage name. Her first name is for Elizabeth Taylor who I met as a teen and for author Jonathan Swift. I started working with INXS in 1983 and Tim Farriss told me in Swift's Gulliver's Travels a redhead is called a Yahoo. I am a redhead. This lead to us naming the Australian actor/comedian Yahoo Serious.

I was discovered by Def Leppard's Joe Elliott in May of 1983 and why the singer would appear on Crossroads with the band singing the first song I wrote, Pour Some Sugar On Me.

Yes, because she CAN sing. She isn't awful! She is not the best singer compared to Carrie, Martina, Adele, etc. But she CAN sing! There are some songs, I agree, that she should not sing live. Enchanted? That song was edited in the studio so she could reach the high notes, and she does not sound very good when she sings the high notes live. I do agree, quite a few of the songs she has should be in a different key better suited for her range. Because when it is in her key, it's absolutely beautiful. Everybody has those songs that are just suited for their voice, and Taylor does need to write more songs better suited for her voice - but even when they aren't perfectly suited, they still sound good. The lyrics are still absolutely beautiful and easy to relate to, and she is still so talented it's ridiculous. But there are some songs that are absolutely perfect for her voice. Please just check these songs out. I know you probably don't want to listen to them, but please just do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc8dbl-EqCY Try to listen to that without getting chills. She sings that one DAMN well. Here are a few others that she sounds really, really good on. All live, NONE edited in the studio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmrjli8hgH0, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13_KT6V14JQ, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3JcgOu1Tbs&feature... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qC_6hWbe_g, and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSd9sjqrkCI&feature... Some people just don't like some singers or artists. For example, I don't really like Ellie Goulding. She's just not my sound. So you don't have to like the way Taylor sings, sounds, writes, or whatever. But she can sing. She can sing a lot better than most people. And for the record, WANEGBT was meant to be dumb, poppy, and not very meaningful - because it's the exact opposite of the music that the boy that the song is about liked. It was also co-written by Max Martin, and so was 22. The guy writing all of Britney's and NSYNC's biggest pop hits. So there's that. Girls love Taylor because she sings their diaries. She knows how to say what we can't. She puts to music our feelings, and everything we've gone through. Her music has been there when nothing and nobody else has, and just because she isn't as good a singer as some people out there does not make us love her any less.

She CAN sing. I'm not saying she's the next Whitney Houston or Adele, but she can definitely sing AND write songs, and she is a genuine person and a good role model for people in general, but especially teenage girls. People of all generations can find comfort in her lyrics and find her music catchy and enjoyable.

I saw her in concert (I worked at the Arena) and I must admit that she is very talented. Her voice is not her appeal, though. She plays guitar pretty darn good if you ask me, and her lyrics were good and she sang them with perfect stanza memory, she's a very cute chick, and she's poised, and she entertained the crowd and her fans very well. I enjoyed it. (but it was free for me, so...hehe)

there's always been popular performers who suck. i guess people who suck at what they do, like singers, actors, dancers who suck too, maybe to validate them. that never ever ever song is annoying the first time you hear it; in heavy rotation it's enough to make one homicidal.

What gives with that other dumb song about "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"?! Does that include cancer, or a stroke? Your baby dying? Losing a leg or arm?.... that song and its' singers arrogance seriously piss me off

Source(s): sorry bout putting a question in my answer Edit: now that never ever ever song makes me laugh, 'cause it reminds me of that Sandeep Singh dude in Mass. whose gf dumped him, and then he won $16 million dollars in Mega Millions :)
