Should people who do not evacuate be charged for the rescue?

Should people who do not evacuate and need rescue be charged a fine. Rescue workers are put at risk because people are unwilling to leave areas of grave danger. Its wrong to do this.

I feel that they should be fined for staying after being told, ordered to leave the area. Its in the public good that they listen and move to safety

I think thats a very reasonable idea,so long as they are not disabled and dont have any problems actually leaving their home.

I am very concerned at the danger to people until at least mid-week. There could be massive damage also to electrics, and flood the subways. My fear is that terrorists take advantage of the confusion.

    Good & valid point.

But some might have the ability or money to flee.

Adding a fine to their situation might look a bit harsh.

But I do agree those who can SHOULD go & save the rescue services risking life & limb later on.

Same as Greg during the Australian bush fires which did so much damage many were told to leave and a number stayed and either died or were severely injured if a fire came through my place I would evacuate immediately my life is worth much more than my property.

Good point, I agree. And I would not attempt a dangerous rescue that endangers the lives of public safety personal.

if rescue services have to endanger their lives in order to rescue people who ignored the warnings then yes they should at least be fined. if the situation is that bad that a mass evacuation is taking place then the people who ignore are criminals. they should even go to prison if people die because of their refusing to move.

if people choose not to evacuate after being told in no uncertain terms the dangers they face they should not be rescued, why should rescuers put their lives at risks for people who are so clearly arrogant

  • No. It seems to me people in that part of the U.S. have already been heavily charged by governments. Anyway I don't know how millions of people can all evacuate smoothly.

You are over-reacting. Obama will NOT allow the

    hurricane to come ashore.
