Should book lovers be worried?
i am old fashioned.
Frankly i loove taking hold of a book and reading it...carrying it on my way to class...the long ride home...i..love going to a library and have a variety. But apparently...technology will make that impossible..it will be online. I dont mind technology but i just love the smell of a book and the excitement.
Question is...is anyone, like i am..who loves writing than typing...and reading a book (with papers) than online?

I like both.
i am a financial professional and spend most of my day on the computer or meetings. I bring my professional reading home. I selective read 15 magazine subscriptions a month and a couple of newspapers.
i also have a Nook where at present I do some of my recreational reading. I like that I can carry multiple books on my Nook and read them at home and when I travel. I can get most magazines and newspapers on my Nook, but I resist. I too like the feel of paper.
I get some books at the library still but I have given up on paper backs.
The thing is by as soon as 2030 the last book will be printed. Gutenberg had a long 600 year run though, didn't he? So we all need to get accustomed to the technology.
I do like that I can increase the font size on my Nook. My eyes are more tired in the evening and the larger fonts are nice. Plus I can read several books at once and Nook remembers where I left off Yes you can do the same with multiple book marks, but with Nook you only have to remember where you left it!
One guy's opinion. Can't stop technology so embrace it.

i feel the same way and i love technology although my attitude towards it changed a bit when i have been searching for several books in the last few weeks and have not found them when i could download them . plus it would be easier to carry if my drink were to spill in my bag the book would be ruined while my digital one would have a better chance be in my pocket or could be easily fixed for free plus sometimes i do get to tired or are unable to find a comfortable spot to read a book and would rather use a audio book also if i wanted to read a big giant book it would be hard to carry around but the digital ones are lighter.
finally i am a fan of the Harry Potter series and i like to re read them now and then but i feel embarrassed because most of the books i own have the childish cover on them. though i am ok with the one i take with me at the moment which has the adult cover on but still my point is noting can replace that feeling the books have plus they don't need to be charged but i do admit sometimes i feel a digital book would be better also i would rather find the book straight away i hate running through selves trying to find one book out of hundreds and i feel disappointed when the books get dirty ripped wet or lost. which won't happen when they are online.

your paper fetish confuses me.
I assumed this question was going to be about the issue of people not reading, not about the phasing out of an outdated medium. The only concern I might have about going forward is that there aren't a lot of options for ebooks, theres amazon/kindle exclusive stuff, I think apple has some sort of thing maybe, and thats it. If we don't get some ebook equivilant of something like, say, Steam, there could be a problem with kindle getting a monopoly and having a controlling nature similar to how Apple handles their app store, outright blocking things from coming out for no good reason.

I would choose an actual book over an ebook any day of the week. I love the way books smell too.

I'm the exact same the experience for me is so much better reading from an actual book. Its invigorating but when reading from a computer it feels impersonal for some reason.

Yes. I'm like that too. I LOVE real books. It really upsets me that eBooks are becoming so popular.
I really hope that they don't stop publishing real books, but if they decide to, I'm going to stock up on real books while I can.

I, too love to read book. I read them every day I can. Some day I think we might not have books, they will be old (darn). But for now we will have books, probably during the rest of both of our lives.

I love smelling books. I don't like smelling my computer screen. I am worried that they'll stop printing, because that really messed up.
