What do you think of this?

Washington has Initiative 502 on the ballot, which would legalize marijuana, even though it would remain illegal under federal law. Supporters claim that it would deprive the drug cartels of a great deal of money, the pot would be put under tight regulatory control, with severe sentences for selling to minors. Sure, a lot of pot is imported, but pot is not a big money item for the cartels. they want to get you off of pot and on to the hard drugs, where they make more money. A lot of pot is grown locally, in basements, national forests and in farmer's fields. Alcohol is under tight regulatory control, but minors seem to have no problem obtaining booze, how would pot be any different. They claim that the taxes collected on pot would allow them to tackle violent crime. Baloney! Any rise in the taxes due to pot will be channeled into the pet projects of politicians. Do you think that the supporters of I-502 think the rest of us have shite for brains? I say the emperor is naked, his new clothes are invisible. What say you?

Emperor is definitely naked! He knew it in the book and they know it now. I had a legalized pot dispensary two offices down from me(I'm in Cali) and you know who went to get their prescription filled? Kids! The whole thing is a crock!! Tax it? Right. Like you said, the money will be as censored like "fast and furious". What a joke.

As far as the dispensary in question: forcefully closed due to "zoning" blah blah blah. Whatever. If the government would have a good wrap of tracking stuff like this, the idea wouldn't sound that bad. But they actually believe what they say. That's the scary part.

Additional notes: the "clinic"(hehehe). Was tipped off that they were selling to kids and people without proper prescriptions. (:0 fancy that?! We all believe it was the nurse who tipped off authorities. Good for her!

    There went the neighborhood

lol @ the "what say you". I say go ahead & give it a go & see if it'll work. If legalizing it (to a traffic infraction, instead ~I don't believe in complete legalizing) under that tight control has more pros than cons, then other states will follow suit. If it doesn't work, they can scratch it, & change it back to being illegal. I cannot stand the fact that some officers have lost their lives due to pot being in trunks & the perps didn't want to be challenged or go to jail/prison. It is not worth the officers to lose their lives over pot. Just my humble opinion. Then we should have great education for minors/youth/adults about the negatives of being potheads, the same that should be done about alcohol & premarital sex.

    Stay safe! <3

added: a lot of "stars" (famous people) have done pot... it's sad that Miley Cyrus was seen taking hits from a bong & laughing... not a good example for minors & fans. Not everyone that does pot, commits crimes. Many people do crimes these days, bullying or being hostile; altho, they don't do pot. They're probably alcoholics, tho, & alcohol has given them brain disease. For the younger ones that bully & don't drink or do drugs, maybe, it's frustration of a future that doesn't look like the future other generations had. Couple that with all the terrible technology, etc., w/evil influences & accesses. Maybe the ones that do pot & commit crimes are those that are trying to steal money to pay for their pot. Soo, if they were legally able to grow their own pot, would they then not commit crimes & just chill out @ home (drugged out like slackers & losers) & keep to themselves? Drugs found in cars should be treated like open containers of alcohol, etc. Treat drugs found in vehs like traffic infractions or something lighter like "open container" because have you ever heard of an officer getting killed over someone being nervous about being caught w/an "open container" charge? People that may already be under the influence may over-react when/if they think they'll be charged too severely. Maybe the charges should be treated like alcohol?
