I've never got a bargain in my life.

Indeed it's always the opposite with me.

I'll show someone something I bought for £18 and they will invariably say "Oh, I got one exactly like that down at such-and-such a shop for only £11!"

Or buy an antique for £50, and sell it 10 years later for £2

When it come to money, I have never had any luck.

Yes in 1978 I bought a Datsun B210 & paid like $3200 it was a brand new car. A week after I bought it the yen went up & it would have been like a $1000 more. Then I had that car for 10 years & I didn't but a penny into it except for the maintence things such as changing the oil, etc. but nothing every needed to be fixed. Someone rear ended us & we got the money to fix it but decided not to do that. Then someone cut in front of my husband early one morning & a tractor trailor also turned & hit me on the side. So the repairs for that car paid for it. I didn't care what other people thought of my car. I took the money & put it towards the principle on my house.

My husband has been a hoarder in the past several years so I have researched this subject & I told him that if he got rid of shirts new ones would come back or the money for new ones.He was very resistant. So I said just through out one shirt & watch how someone buys hime a shirt or gives him a nice shirt or a coupon or something. For some reason once he started throwing out shirts he had 2 large bags to throw out. A few days later we got a plastic card from a local store for $10 off of anything. We have been getting this kind of card for about 3 years now about once a month. We buy socks, underwear, I have so many shirts that I picked off the discound rack, candles, all kinds of things. I have one right now.

I found another car for $1200 once that I think I had for 10 it was a luxury car.

I used to go to a nice flea market when I first got married & would buy all kinds of things really cheap. My husband has a handyman business & he bought all kinds of tools. People often just wanted to get rid of things. Sometimes dollar stores have things that cost $10 in a regular store but I can't remember what I got probably kitchen items. I did buy a coffee maker from Walmart that was about $30.

I found pants at Walmart that were less than $10 & they were perfect for me cause I need petite size & it was hard to get anyway.

With a sweater once at Macy's. It had been marked down from $79.00 to something like $49.00 I got 10% more taken off for getting a Macy's card, (which I immediately cut up), and another percentage discount for what I can't remember.

The sweater ended up costing me $27.00. I was pretty delighted.

I don't use store credit cards as I want to feel the pain on the spot!

Wow! You really got a deal, happee.

My daughter bought me a brand new Vera Bradley for $15 at a yard sale. It's the best looking one I've ever seen.

I have about 5 pocketbooks just laying around and none of them costed over $15. I think I get bargains on food at the grocery store when I can find what I really like on sale. My 22 pound turkey for Thanksgiving was priced at $1.49 a pound which was $32.78 and the store was having a turkey promo which knocked off $17.60 which made the cost of the turkey $14.80. I think THAT was a REAL bargain!...

I hate to bust your bubble but people that buy items for the sake of getting a name brand are either very wealthy or very dumb. I buy with the idea of an items functionality in mind. The price you paid for an outrageously overpriced item was actually the price you could have bought the same thing for without the fancy name. It's like buying Tylenol for it's name brand instead of buying acetaminophen which is exactly the same medicine, the only difference is Tylenol is far more expensive.

Yes. Every year I would shop at Macy's kitchen department the day after Christmas, they have REALLY good deals. I had bought grinders, food processors at prices you only can find on that day, from 60-80% off.

I get bargains all the time. I LOOK for them. I try to buy when things are on sale or marked down. I shop when my favorite store has an extra 15% off on general merchandise. I retired from the store so I still get a 10% discount.

I'm not into designer items but your pocketbook sounds like a steal. I got some warm, cute plush pj's last summer that had been marked 90% off from the original $24.99 for (after the 15% and the 10%) for $2.03. They are great for sitting around in to watch TV or read.
