What does it mean when a guy compliments you and then says trust me?

So my best guy friend texts me and we go back and forth a couple times and then he said, "You do an awesome job. Trust me."

what does that suppose to mean? Why wouldn't I believe him? lol

I hear all the time that you shouldn't trust people who say "trust me" but I know my friend and but I don't know why he felt like he had to reassure me...

I do have a small crush on him and I have no idea how he feels about me other than the fact that he considers me one of his best friends...

so i don't know....

    I think he just wanted to emphasize that he thinks you're doing a good job :)

    Just to assure you that he really thought you did an awesome job, and also so you wouldn't say "oh stop, no i didnt!" like most girls do :p
