yesterday i really had problems backing my car out of a sloped driveway?

today it doesnt want to go into gear and sort of judders when i first start off and it has a hard time getting up speed to go up hill. when idling at the light it wants to cut off like it isn't getting enough fuel so i keep foot on gas a little. any ideas?

Update:

the car is a 1994 chevy corsica and it has a rod that is knocking which we have been watching as well.

i know i can call a mechanic but we have to move this month and i have zero money for mechanics.

fuel filter blocked .when did you last change that . also check fuel lines for leak .could be air in fuel system . ps only other thing is faulty fuel pump .ok all the best .

kinda hard to say whats wrong with it but it might be the fuel pump going out. Can you give more details. car make/year/miles/is it cold where you live/anything else acting weird?

UPDATE: if it has a rod knock then forget about thats like cancer to a car and a ticking time bomb. get a new car or if you or someone you know can rebuild engines. Eventually that rod will shoot through the block and ive been in a car when that happens and its not very fun. But that is the problem right there.

Call a mechanic. That's the only way you're going to know. You might need a new gearbox or, anything!

Replace your fuel fiter and run a good fuel system cleaner through it.
