If you're younger than 17 I'd say you should listen to your parents and obey them.

There's really no convincing them really. You know your parents better than we do. Best way I think is to show them somehow that you're mature enough. Don't act immaturely and maybe if you show improvements in your academics, or something maybe they'll see.

yes, PLEASE do yourself a favor and never give into your curiosity and watch "Pink Flamingos". John Waters is a twisted man, and so are his films. Also, avoid Hostel unless you're into that crap. Dude, I was raised Mormon (still am), and grew up without watching a single R rated film (until I was about your age when I snuck in a neighbor's movie and a library movie, both separate cases. The movies were Black Hawk Down and Deep Rising. My two first R rated films. I kinda regret it though, I felt bad for going behind my parents' backs). I have since watched hundreds, I've gotten the film buff bug, or whatever you wanna call it. Basically, you may just have to wait until you're 17 or 18 or maybe even until you're out of the house. But 17 is the proper and technically legal age to watch R rated films without adult supervision, so when you hit 17 just calmly let them know you're a man now, and you wish to watch anything you want, but that you'll still take their words of caution under consideration. Just be mature about it, and maybe they'll see you're ready for it. When you CAN watch them, here are some great ones to get you started, that aren't hardcore: Equilibrium The Matrix Ip Man The Shawshank Redemption Hot Fuzz V For Vendetta Saving Private Ryan Slumdog Millionaire Shooter The Kingdom The Hurt Locker The Book of Eli

Their house their rules. As long as they're paying the bills they're the paying the cost to be the boss.

If it's on tv, put it on and watch it they probably won't even notice unless there's sex or gory scenes

You ask them before you watch each movie? And sometimes they let you watch and sometimes they don't? Pshhh! I would just stop asking them...
