Is it way to easy to get semi-auto military-style rifles in this country?
In most states if you are 18 or older with no violent misdemeanors, felonies or dishonorable discharges, then you can buy a semi-auto military-style rifle without a permit or license or waiting period.
And a mentally unstable person could use that rifle to kill lots of people.

The military hasn't used semi-auto rifles since it replaced the M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine for general use. At 18, you can also purchase a bolt action rifle that is about 10 times as powerful as the AR-15. You can also purchase a vehicle before that age. Some guy in China just ran over 22 kids with his car. He did not have time to detonate the gasoline and such in side of the vehicle, or there would have been 22 little crispy critters that would have been hard to identify.

Since virtually every rifle currently available is a descendant of a "military-style" rifle of some sort (be it a Mosin, and Enfield, or an m14), I'm not sure what you're asking. I assume you meant "too" instead of "to."
Most states have some sort of FID program. Another hurdle. In fact it's probably easier for criminals to buy one on the black market than on the level.
Every person buying from a licensed gun dealer must first pass a background check. If you have problems with the NICS background check accuracy system I suggest you take it up with the FBI and AFT. I'm sure that they will be most helpful.

I would have to answer thus: no... it's just about the right amount of easy to get semi-autos in my opinion. if you're concerned is with the mentally unstable, i'd worry about the sort of information that's available through the national instant background check system, very little. if you're making it harder or impossible for people in general to buy these weapons, you're just filing away at the human right to protect oneself. I understand your sentiment though. To someone with little or no firearms experience, all these scary black guns can be especially intimidating, but there's not anything that makes these firearms specially suited to slaughter. It's just the scary black military style that attracts these evil people. just keep an open mind, and for the sake of guys like me that use their rights, educate yourself. Well, I'm now off to work. Adios!

I'll take your "questions" in your little rant in order.
1) No. You have obviously not tried to purchase one. You are merely parroting what you have been told, which is wrong. You have been lied to by people with a personal interest in furthering their agenda at your expense, both your credibility and your life.
2) You were right up to the point about "or waiting period."
The Brady Law mandates a waiting period on handguns. Many states have enacted more stringent waiting periods which apply to both handguns and long guns.
Truth be told, this is a red herring, as waiting periods have been proven not to deter crime or prevent violence.
3) Again, while it is true that a mentally unstable person could use that rifle to kill lots of people, a mentally STABLE person could ALSO use that rifle to SAVE lots of people from a mentally unstable person or violent criminal.
I suspect unintentionally, you have illustrated that the problem is not in the firearm, it is the criminal use of it. To deny access to all due to the criminal misuse of a product is neither logical nor just, and endangers many more people than it protects, by making them defenseless when they need such equipment the most, and, here's the kicker, those regular people have done NOTHING to deserve being disarmed and made defenseless in the face of madmen with guns.
Your rant has been directed by someone taking advantage of your emotions to curtail your rights. Rights which you will regret giving away, much like many of the regular folks during the LA Riots back in 1992, who only too late realized all those great gun control measures APPLIED TO THEM, TOO, leaving them defenseless when the police withdrew to leave them to be victims to the lawless.
Now, I personally don't care if you choose to abdicate your right to self-defense -- it is YOUR right to exercise or abdicate, as the case may be. I DO care if you try to FORCE ME to abdicate MY right to self-defense. Because without it, I would have been dead already, several times over, at the hands of the lawless.
Your point of view is dangerous and indicates both an incomplete understanding of self-defense and a reckless disregard for the safety of your own countrymen.
Shame on you.
You get a small bowl of troll chow for not doing your homework better and spouting off old, tired, gun control rhretoric which didn't make any sense then, and still doesn't make any sense now.
Go read a book. I recommend "More guns, less crime" by Gary Kleck, or "Dial 911 and die" by Richard W. Stevens.
If you're going to advocate gun control, at least bring some fresh half-truths to the table to back up your ludicrous claims; We're tired of the old ones already.

The only difference between the assault rifles and a simi automatic hunting rifle is the looks. A hunting rifle has a regular stock on it but an assault rifle has a stock modeled after a military stock to give it that scary look. The only aeration to them is the way they look. If you take a simi auto hunting rifle and an assault rifle apart next to each other you will find that an they are internally the same. The trigger is pulled for every shot in both. The one that people can't currently get there hands on is a fully automatic rifle. The internal parts are compleatly different though it can look identical to a simi automatic assault rifle.

Not at all. Not just federal back ground and waiting periods, but state as well. In my state no "assualt" style rifle unless you are 21 and do waiting period. This is due to the city part of the state and rules from such. We allow 18 year olds be armed and fight in wars. no reason the same 18 year olds enjoy the same freedoms at home.

This is a bit of a loaded question. With the way this is asked either answer will have us agree with anti-gunner or make us seem irrational. Also the second paragraph implies we should have restrictions on the law abiding because of the 'what if' if someone stole those weapons.
In terms of overall crime these weapons are used in about 2% of total gun crime rounded up.

The Supreme Court decided in United States v. Miller (1939) that the Second Amendment protects our right to bear military weapons.
