Better to be alive than dead/tortured/poisoned/wounded I always say.

I wouldn't describe it as a 'jail', but a safer place to keep a cat. If you were talking about a big dog (lap dogs would be fine, I guess) or something in an apartment then I'd probably agree with you but cats are indoor animals, as long as they have food, water, attention, toys etc then they should get along fine in an apartment. I should keep my cat indoors, but he's always been going out and stuff, so it would be cruel because he's used to being able to do what he wants. But he did get hit by a car last year and almost died :/
Luckily my cat was okay, but that was something like £500 later. And it was pretty scary to know my cat could have died.

Well where else could people who live in apartments put their cats?? If they leave them outside they could run away or get hit by a car. Besides indoor cats live a much longer and healthier life than outdoor cats. All they need is some toys for entertainment. I wouldn't see it as a jail, but a life saver. Everyday I wish I had made my cat a complete indoor cat, because he would have never been run over if I had. Now I have to live life without my cat named Joe, who I dearly loved and continue to love. I'm sure other people would agree with me and learn from my story. Hope this helped. ^__^

Cats are just fine living in an apartment. It is much safer than living outside. And I make sure my cat has lots of vertical space and toys to play with.

If you think about it....if you had a baby kitten and it grew up in an apartment.....wouldnt the cat feel safe or at home because that's where it grew up?!?!?! Plus A CAT IS NOT A LION OR TIGER!!!! It doesnt need a mansion to be happy. Cat were breed to be domestic. what kind of question is this?

Who are you talking to? I live in an apartment and my cat has a cat door to go in and out as she pleases, but she spends 24/7 inside anyway.

Cause the previous owners declawed them and they would die without their claws :/ without the claws one of the dogs around here would destroy them

Because if you didn't it would run away and get hit by a car.
