Was the cat friendly when he was biting and scratching me?
The cat from my landlord likes me a lot, at least he comes to me when he's hungry, and often sleeps on my bed or radiator. But in the evening it becomes very active and plays with balls I left on the floor. When I try to join him, he lies down and shows his belly while catching my hand and fingers with his mouth and claws. It hurts, although only very very little, so I don't resist and let him do that until he stops. But afterwards I would start seeing scratches on my hand and some of them itch.
Is a cat friendly when he does that to me or trying to tell me to leave him alone?

A lot of cats play this way, our three year old Ocicat does this. She is usually pretty gentle about it, and usually does not leave any scratches behind and the bites are always gentle love nips. It sounds like that is what this kitty is doing.

He enjoys continuing to play but is probably over stimulated. Biting is ok as long as it is gentle. The scratching is probably because he was doing that with his toy but not good for you. I would throw balls and let him play and attack the balls and not my hands...

no longer all cats are like that. I certainly have 4 cats, 3 of them are very candy and loving, the forth one is a factor siamese and he or she acts like that. I had a neighbor who had an entire blood siamese and he or she became like that too. in basic terms confirm to assert "No" whilst he does chew and scratch you so he's familiar with its no longer proper habit, in any different case he will think of its okay to chew you and do it extra in many cases.

he could be giving you love bites.... my uncle's cat does that to me and he says its just love bites. so I think its just being friendly
