whats the most accurate .22lr ammo you used in a 10 22?
im just seeing what shots best out of you 22, if i use any remington or winchester my gun shoot terrible 3-6 inch groups at 50 yards and with CCI standard i can get sub 1 inch at 50 yards and about 2" at 100 yards, the mini mags and the velociters also shoot pretty close to the same, mine loves pretty much any CCI ammo but stingers. what does yours like?

Oddly enough, about a year or so ago I ran a test with three different rifles (10/22 stock carbine - 4-12x40 Bushnell Banner, Remington 597 stock normal barrel Remington 3-9x32 scope, and a CZ512 - 4-12x40 Bushnell Trophy), 3 different shooters (my best friend, myself and my dad) and a bunch of different types of .22 ammo, probably 12 - 15 types. Basically, the standard velocity, high velocity, hypervelocity and bulk pack of a bunch of the common manufacturers - CCI, Aguila, Federal, Winchester, Fiocchi, Amscor and then a few random ones I had picked up on the way - Centurion, and a few others.
I'm a bit of a stats guy so we set it up as something of an experiment and captured 5 shot group sizes off the bench at 25 yards. (It was winter, we were doing it more or less out of curiosity, and that was as far as the indoor range went)
Short version?
Among the really cheap stuff (Remington Thunderbolt, Remington Golden Bullet, Centurion, CCI Blazer, Amscor HV, Federal Champion Bulk pack and Winchester Wildcat) the clear winner was the CCI Blazer. We had clear 0.10" - 0.25" 5 shot groups out of all of the rifles and good function. It was a bit surprising because the ammo seemed a bit ... loose in some cases but it didn't seem to matter.
In a pack coming in second was, surprisingly - Remington Thunderbolt (although all agreed it was pretty dirty), Centurion, and Federal Champion Bulk pack. We couldn't really tell the difference in these except for how much smoke the Thunderbolt was generating.
Remington Golden Bullet ran well, but grouped worse than the group in second.
Tail end charlie? Amscor HV and Winchester Wildcat. Neither grouped well, and the Wildcat ran the worst.
In terms of mid priced ammo (the various other CCI brands, Aguila HV, Federal AutoMatch, Federal Gold Medal HV, Eagle, Wolf Match, etc.) there was a clear winner, a clear second and everyone else:
Federal AutoMatch was the clear number 1. It ran great, it shot .1" groups or less in all of the guns at least once, and none of the groups were more than about .2" and it was relatively clean. I've been on the lookout for more of the 325 round checkerbox and haven't found any.
CCI MiniMag was the clear number 2. Again, ran great, groups weren't quite as good as the Federal, but still perfectly acceptable (anything a 1/4" or less at 25 yards was fine) no malfunctions.
There were a few more observations, but basically, the Winchester ammo was a bit of a disappointment even at the higher end. The Remington super cheap stuff was better than expected, but their higher end stuff disappointed. In comparing the Stingers to Velocitors and the Hypervelocity Aguila to the Interceptors in general, the 40 grain versions seemed to group better, and there wasn't much difference between the two brands across equivalent rounds.
It was fun and I'm thinking of doing it again as I've picked up some new .22 rifles and have plans for a few more.

my 10/22 was an unreliable, inaccurate, fussy piece of crap. it hated everything i gave it, and it averaged 5" groups at 100 yards. i sent it back to factory to try and get these huge problems fixed but they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it! the only ammo type that would run reliably shot 9" groups. It was so bad I sold it and it wasn't enough to even cover what i paid for it...
I don't think i'll ever buy a Ruger product ever again
Well my other .22's are wonderful. they like all the ammo I have available (53 kinds) and in general shoot well even if it's not their favored ammo.
My Marlin 925 shoots best with Remington Subsonic. sub-MOA groups. however not ever box of Rem subsonic is consistent.. The alternative is Winchester Wildcat22 and T22 ammo
My Voere 22 likes hte cheap stuff. federal value pack, Remington golden bullet, winchester super-x
My H&R 922 revolver has no preference. it might be too old to care.
My Phoenix 22 says it dislikes hypervelocity ammo. hypervelocity ammo hurts it

Well, I've yet to feed mine any kind of "investment grade" ammunition because that would be kind of perverse, since I have a standard barrel and aperture sights rather than a target barrel and glass, but I have noticed that CCI Mini-Mag, Velocitor, etc get better results than the Federal Champion 525 boxes I usually feed it. With the Federal Champion and other bulk ammo, the cartridges often tend to be a bit beaten up when I open the box, particularly the bullet itself. These scratches, dings and dents do seem to rather effect flight path, producing a rather larger number of flyers than with mid-grade ammunition. Propellant also seems to make a difference.
Worst with mine was... well, anything by Remington. Winchester was a mixed bag. The cheap stuff was a lot like the Remington. The M22 was comparable to Federal Champion in performance.

For my 10/22 rifles I shoot CCI mini mag only. I don't know about other rifles, but I own two, and they both do not like Winchester or Remington. Federal works good in them, but I get the best groups with CCI mini mags, specifically the 40gr copper plated round nose.
On a side note, my sister has a bolt action Marlin, the XT-22TR, and CCI's also work wonders in that rifle.

CCI Blazer and CCI standard both work great. I have been shooting CMP surplus Remington lately too, and it's very accurate as well.
