Is registering to welfare automatically make you a government leech?
When a homeless person living in the street barely survive. And CANNOT find a job.
He gets welfare, does that automatically make him a leech? Even if he is, in the meanwhile, finding a job?

By definition, yes. But he has good intentions. I am all for welfare when it goes towards people who need it for a bit to get back on their feet. Not for people who just abuse it and see it as a substitute for a job.

No, and if the job market doesn't improve we should expect more people to qualify for welfare.
Most homeless people have mental conditions and receive disability checks. To qualify for welfare you have to prove you have an actual address and pay to live there.

That person is trying, therefore no. Still, according to some Republicans, especially those who want to eliminate welfare altogether, yes.

No. You're supposed to use that welfare to feed yourself while looking for work and creating a stable income for yourself so you can recontribute to society what you took.
Most people don't. One story I like to tell is when I saw a guy buy beer with food stamps at a local supermarket, and then see him drive off in a nice Mercedes.
