What do you think about what Yahoo! did?

According to the news, the new CEO of Yahoo! told all workers who are telecommuting that they have to start working from the office of quit. This includes a lot of people who were assured they could work from home, including parents who need to look after their children. Does this make you reconsider being on this site?

They are the bosses. They do have the right.

I do feel bad for those whose lives are disrupted, and I think Yahoo should at least give them severance pay or help in finding other employment. I think Yahoo should be willing to consider this on a case by case basis.

Since one reason for this change is stated to be because the employees who had this right were taking advantage and not doing their work well, these should go. Those who were doing it well should be left alone.

If the reason is that Yahoo needs to make cuts, those cuts should again be based on who was not doing the job rather than laying off all of a group..

In other words, I think they should have handled it differently. As far as not using this site, it doesn't make me less likely to use it. I guess I use a lot of products that are made by people i don't agree with. However, the changes to Yahoo in how their pages are shown is quite irritated, and I am now using Google more often than I did.

I believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So yes, Yahoo seems to be making choices that I don't agree with, but I am just one little person so I don't think my voice will mean much!

Glad you asked though. I wanted to tell someone this!

i do not work for Yahoo so this does not affect me and i do not care. As far as i'm concerned those employees should be grateful to have a job to go to every morning when so many of us are unemployed. i am sympathetic to people who have disabilities and find it difficult to travel; certainly it must have been a blessing to them to be given the opportunity to work from home. But when people choose to have kids they assume the responsibility for caring for those kids.

No, this does not make me reconsider being on this site. The only time i reconsider being on this site is when i look back on all the times i have been suspended because some other user(s) got butthurt and jealous of my points and ranking.
