Computer Ram-My system info shows 1.81 Ghz, 512 MB Ram, all on the same line. Do these combine?

I am wondering if the 1.81 Ghz is additional, or if there's actually only 512 MB Ram? I just got the computer, used. This is all on the same line under the System Information. Thanks!

    GHz = clock speed

    MB = megaBytes or Ram size

    Those are two different items being described. The 512 MB is the amount of ram on your machine. Ram is measure in bytes and is just a type of memory used for computer hardware. The best way to confirm the amount of ram that your machine should have is to open the computer case and inspect the ram card/s that are installed on the motherboard. But if your machine is saying 512 MB then this is all that it has available.

    That amount of ram is going to make your computer very sluggish if you are thinking of using modern programs. The average computer being sold on the market today comes with at least 4GB of ram and in my opinion is the minimum you will need to enjoy the use of modern programs and products. There are plenty of options for you that will demand less on your machine and work smoothly with the lower performance machines so you aren't out of luck. It isn't hard to find programs made specifically for older and lower performance computers, but they are not seen as much as the modern software, and require a little knowledge and effort to utilize.

    I'd Google Ghz and MB, just so you can be clear on the difference.

    1.81 Ghz refers to the speed of your processor, while 512 mb refers to how much RAM is allocated to your processor.

    RAM may easily help. I were paying for and through the internet deals at Circuit city you could 1G chipsets for $34-$37. 2G will be $sixty 4-$seventy 2. it really is for PNY type. lots of the internet agencies are providing Kingston for an similar value.

    1.81ghz likely refers to your cpu speed and the 512MB refers to your ram capacity.

    And based on those specs alone, i hope you didnt pay too much for this computer lol XD
