Would god prefer it if I stopped asking questions and did as I was told?

Does he want unquestioning followers or questioning followers?

Of course not. "The sincerest act of worship is to try to understand."

  • There is nothing wrong with questioning.. Infact it's better to question...

I'll tell you the truth about religion... Religion is a weapon, it has been manipulated throughout history for good men to go to war, religion has killed millions and you wanna know why? Because people never question their religion or God.. I mean look at catholic Christianity... They burnt millions of protestants at the stake because they believed in the wrong "anti christ" Christianity... Lool at Islam, Al quaeda and the Taliban has manipulated the teachings and made it extreme...

Religion is a weapon, which is why I don't have a religion... I may not have a religion but I still believe in God and pray when I really need help... If you think about it, God is overrated....everyone thinks that God will help you when you're in trouble but look at all the pain and suffering in this world...

I think God is just whoever created the big bang.. And that's it, if he was as people make God out to be, he would have stopped all the suffering and pain...

But regarding to your question... Yes, always question! Curiosity is what drives humanity.. Don't be one of those people who would do exactly what your relegious leader wants... Question to see if it's moral or not... Not if the so called "Allah" or "God" wants it... People have manipulated God and say that "God wants it" when it's really the guy who says it.. (especially with Islam and the Taliban)

Always question, and if there is a real God out there, God would look at your morals..

There is never a wrong question from a clean conscience. John 17:3 says learning about God and his son will lead to everlasting life. So, like a humble little child, ask questions that you want answers to.

He does desire obedience but at times it does seem that asking questions would be helpful. That is acceptable if it is done with the desire to want to know Him Better, to grow in faith to learn about Him, and to walk in faith with Him. That is acceptable. But to ask questions that would cause more doubt and take away from growth in faith then no, I don't think that He would want to hear that from you. But to obey first is better than to ask before you obey. Yes it is hard sometimes, because the human nature is not inclined to always want to obey and ask questions later. Asking for direction to follow is good, and those in principle for moral behavior are already given in Scripture. Asking for directions in many different subjects are good, so long as you are learning to grow in faith in Him. Asking and not listening or expecting and answer is another story. That we are all guilty of many times over and that is not right in His sight.

Christianity is not based on blind faith, this is a lie inspired by satan - 'the father of lies'. God wants us to grow in knowledge and understanding. The more Christian scientists delve into nature's secrets the more they marvel at the super-intelligence and breathtaking designs of God.

It would blind faith to believe in answered prayer if we never experienced such, but we Christians do enjoy lovely answers to prayer and are conscious of God's provision, for particular things that we need seem to come our way when we need them! I should have written a diary about these things because we tend to forget.

Stepping towards God at first may need blind faith, but he will reward us if we do by special blessing. Believing that Jesus lived and died for our personal benefit, and to respond by humbly handing over our life to him, is a good way to start knowing God.

    I would say yes.

All metaphysical discussion is profitless unless it causes us to seek within

the Self for the true reality. All controversies about creation, the nature of the

universe, evolution, the purpose of God, etc., are useless. They are not

conducive to our true happiness. People try to find out about things which

are outside of them before they try to find out "Who am I?" Only by the

latter means can happiness be gained.

    Sri Ramana Maharshi (December 30, 1879 – April 14, 1950)

Disputes, worldly associations and quarrels should be avoided.

Not even spiritual disputations should be indulged in, whether good or bad.

Let a man raise himself, let him not lower himself; for, he alone is the friend of himself, he alone is the enemy enemy of himself.

If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.

God prefers that people ask questions. One cannot gain knowledge and wisdom without asking questions.

(Proverbs 2:1-5) My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God.

(Proverbs 4:5-7) Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding. Do not forget, and do not turn aside from the sayings of my mouth.  Do not leave it, and it will keep you. Love it, and it will safeguard you. Wisdom is the prime thing. Acquire wisdom; and with all that you acquire, acquire understanding.

(Proverbs 18:15) The heart of the understanding one acquires knowledge, and the ear of wise ones seeks to find knowledge.

(1 John 5:20) But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.

classically it's usually been considered a religious duty on everyone to ask questions and make themselves secure in what they believe, and to throw out unjustifiable beliefs, that's long been the case in judaism, islam, catholicism, protestantism was based on questioning, hinduism and buddhism certainly encourage it .. so no, as far as i know there's no religion that has as part of its basic teachings that you're not supposed to ask questions
