Weird eating habits for a dog?

I do not have scheduled feeding times for my dog. Just like yours, he doesn't gobble down every piece of food that I put in front of him. I leave his food available to him at all times so he can eat when he feels like it. He only eats a tiny bit during the day but, when I wake up, I notice that food is gone so, he's getting hungry in the middle of the night. Some dogs will eat until they are full, throw up and eat some more so they have to be on a schedule or they will overeat and be sick. Our dogs don't do that. I suggest you leave your dogs bowl of food out next to her water, If the bag says one cup per day, just put in one cup and let your dog eat when he is hungry. You wont be over feeding him if you put the suggested amount in the bowl and your dog will have food when he feels like eating. I have fed my dog like this for 15 years and it's never been a problem. In fact, some times he doesn't even eat all of it. Some dogs just eat what their body tells them that they need.

First question. We have more then one dog too, always do it seams. We have four now. The Aussie and the Aussie cross take a bite of there food and walk very quickly a couple feet away. Or like yours take it else where to eat it. I feel this is due to having more then one dog. The Aussie pup has her own food and does not do this until she goes to the big pot of food we have for all of them. We free feed here and it sound like you do too? Free feeding meaning we have a huge pot we put almost a whole 20 lbs bag of food into it. The pup has her own bowl of her baby food in it. Carpet because carpet is so comfy to lay on and eat in leisure lol! Me and the Mr. were talking the other day why dogs go around and around. Only our Saint Bernard does this to the point of being irritating. We summed this up as this dog we feel was outside a lot, maybe circling is smashing the grass down before laying down? I had a dog who would dig a little whole when ever she laid down. The dirt is cooler down there then it is above the ground where the sun hits.... Hope this makes some sense to you? First of all there is nothing wrong with feeding a dog twice a day. I have always fed my adult dogs twice a day for the last 30 years.

Your Poodle mix is a picky eater. I suggest feeding a better dog food. Having 5 dogs under 20 pounds, it is important to me to find a food they all enjoy that is excellent quality.

I recommend NOT feeding your dog twice a day. I feed mine only once and that keeps them slender yet healthy. Your dog may not like Purina because mine doesn't either. Purinia has been proven to have low quality dog food taste. Give the dog one type of food instead of mixing the 2 brands which may give it a wacky flavor which she may not like. Dog doesn't eat because she isn't hungry but probably does not agree with the quality of the food she is being served.
