    It depends where you live.

In England you have to go to university to become a nurse. Nursing in England is 3 years long, and nurses are highly specialised. You have to choose between 4 fields: child nursing, adult nursing, mental health or learning disability nursing. You have to be very careful when you choose which field is right for you because it is specialised - if you want to work with children then you will have to pick child nursing, but if you do this then you will not be able to work with adults. Nursing is 3 years long and you are studying for a B.S (Bachelor's of Science). You get a pass or fail in the practical side, but you get honours in the university work: 1st class honours, 2:1, 2:2 or a 3 (pass). You need to pass both to be a registered nurse.

There are additional top up degrees you can do and other degrees you can do to improve your skills and climb up the career ladder. Newly qualified nurses make around £21, 000 in England but in London you get £24, 000 as the cost of living is higher. As you get promotions to junior sister, senior sister, community nurses, managers, nurse consultant, nurse specialists you get more money. They are paid by what bands they are - band 5 (new nurses), band 6, band 7 and band 8. Band 7 & 8 get a lot of money but it's a lot of work

    Good luck xoxo

If you're in the US, the minimum degree required to be licensed as an RN is an Associates, which is technically a 'two year degree' but you need to complete prerequisite courses before you can start the nursing program, so for most people it will take about 3 years total. And that's assuming you get accepted to the nursing program the first time you apply. Most programs (both ADN and BSN) are very competitive and have many more applicants than there are spots available, so you might have to apply more than once, or to more than one program.

BSN programs are 4 years if you attend full-time from start to finish. You would want this degree in the long run, you'll have more job opportunities available to you, especially if you want to work in a hospital. If you get the ADN first, there are BSN completion programs which take about 18-24 months to complete, and many of these programs can be completed online.

How much you make depends on what job you hold, what kind of facility you work at, whether you live/work in a rural vs. urban area, what the cost of living is in that area, etc. Most new grad RNs working as a staff nurse in a hospital will have a starting hourly wage of around between $25-30.

3-4 years depending on what degree program you take. You can get an ASN (2 years plus 1 year first of taking prerequisite required courses) or a BSN degree. Both allow you to take the NCLEX RN licensing exam. Many hospitals hire only BSN RNs BUT you can get an ASN and work in a nursing home and take online ASN to BSN classes.

If you attend a private school expect to have huge financial debt/student loans. If you attend an ASN program expect to pay 12,000-20,000 for 2 years. A BSN degree at a public college will be probably 50,000 to 80,000 total depending on if you live at school or not.

Apply to as many RN programs as possible because it can take YEARS to get into a program

A local hospital has its' own school of health sciences.

An RN program leads to an RN in 22 months, and they start at $ 22,000.00 a year.

Most of their grads take additional nursing and college courses and their pay increases substantially with more education.

A nurse with a college degree and experience can earn more than $ 60,000.00 a year.

For many programs, the wait list is longer than the program itself. It can be in as little as 2 years or take 6+, with the waiting list taken into account. The money they make depends on several factors. Many start in the low-$30k's and you can make into the $80k's with a decade of experience and a crap load of OT.

4 years if you go full time and meet all your clinicals. Then passing the boards of course.
