Was Raiders of the Lost Ark accurate?
If you opened the ark of the convent would your face melt off? Was it surrounded by venomous snakes? Is it really stored in a museum somewhere? And what museum is it stored in?

No, it's stored in a government facility in New Mexico. However,
"It belongs in a museum!"

As to whether it is stored somewhere I do not know, but the answer is probably not. Keeping a thing like that hidden is not easy.
It surprises me to no end how so many conspiracy theorists will talk about how the governments of the world can keep hidden alien life, numerous ancient mysteries that could provide endless energy or grand weapons or whatever else, how they keep down information about car engines that could get 200 miles to the gallon, and so much more...when these loser governments can't even buy a hammer for less than $200.
You guys want to make up your mind on how incompetent the government is?
But I digress. As to what would happen if you opened the Ark of the Covenant, the answer is that Raiders of the Lost Ark is highly inaccurate. Bible accounts of what happened to those who touched the Ark of the Covenant when they were not authorized to do so shows that they simply dropped dead at touching it. They didn't even live long enough to open it. And it was not through a face-melting situation, but simply they fall down and are dead. That's it. No theatrics or anything like that...just dead.

The opening of the Ark of the *Covenant would not have resulted in the melting of anybody's face. I do not know this for sure, but it seems that Biblical accounts indicate that opening the Ark was possible without mentioning any sort of face melting. For example, the Ark was once captured by the enemies of Israel and placed in the temple of the Dagon, god of the enemies. I think that the Ark was opened at that time.
The Ark is in a hidden chamber under the Temple Mount, according to the majority of rabbis I have heard opine on where the Ark is. The next most common answer I have heard is that the Ark is hidden in a cave near the Temple Mount, but outside Jerusalem.

Completely accurate. As recorded in the movie, the ark is stored in a nameless U.S. government warehouse, not in any museum.

No, it is all speculation - the Ark of the Covenant was never found, it is still lost somewhere in the Middle East. No one knows what would happen if it was ever found and opened.

I have never opened it so I wouldn't know and neither would they. It isn't stored in a museum it is to this day lost and there are various theories on where it could be.

There is a German version of the film shot from the Nazi perspective. In the original script, Indy wore a bowler hat.
