How do I stop one of the local cats from peeing outside my back door?

It's become a real problem because I usually hang my washing out there. Now this cat (which has fought my own cats into submission, they won't go out when it's there) is peeing on the patio, the washing etc and there's a permanent smell till it rains. Then the accursed animal comes round and pees again. Help!

Update:

I must add, I rarely see the cat. I've seen it once in the last six months, this was last weekend. The geography of my back yard means that by the time I've got the door open it's gone.

Pour some strong coffee in to a spray bottle, fill with water.

Spray the exterior of you house and yard.

Cats do not like the smell of coffee and it is a natural repellent.

Use some apple bitter cats really hate it, spray it around your place a few times a week until he learns not to come back.

Ok what I would do is put vinigar out there if you don't mind the smell for a while the cat won't come back cause cats hate vinigar

I had the same issues with my cat. I used this cat training system which worked.

They have a spray for cats to make them not want to pee on particular things, try that.

next time you see it out there, dump a bucket of water on it, or get a squirt gun and spray it. cats hate water and a few good doses of water will make it avoid that area in the future.

pour bleach on it. he's showing dominance to your cats inside by peeing where they used to go.

i would get physical with him. become the dominant one. most people will scare them off and be done, that's not enough. you need to run him clean off the property and make sure he knows it was you.

garden hose, rake, pellet gun to the butt, electrified door mat.. do what you gotta do. there are no limits in the animal kingdom.
