Who is your favourite writer and what is their greatest writing flaw?
Question is pretty self-explanatory. GO!
If you have more than one favourite author, then do them all. Or pick one. Whatever. There are no set rules, really...

Stephen King, and probably his overstating. Not necessarily descriptiveness, I like lots of description, he just tends to go off on tangents and tell us things that aren't really relevant to the story. It's funny because I literally just answered a question where someone was complaining about how boring his books are. I don't think they're boring, I just find myself wondering sometimes where the hell he's going with the story.

1. J. R. R. Tolkien. I don't think his female characters are as strong as his male characters, but whatever. I agreed with my aunt when she said that he takes up a whole chunky paragraph to describe a mountain side. I don't mind the description at all but I can see why it's a flaw. The third flaw is that he includes chapters that could have easily been edited out. Yes, he was writing for himself but why didn't his editors take those chapters out?
2. Koushun Takami. I don't have a problem with Battle Royale (I thoroughly enjoyed it!) but my sister didn't want to read it because she thought she'd get nightmares, as I did tell her Battle Royale is a lot more graphic than Hunger Games, so I guess the graphic detail is a flaw for people not used to that level of intensity (to be fair, the violence isn't THAT bad, imo..) *shrugs*
3. G. R. R. Martin. He kills off people I like. :C
