He has voted both ways on this issue. And he has ALWAYS supported closing the 'gun show loophole' so his support of manchin-toomey is to be expected.

Partly because he doesn't really know squat about guns, for one thing. Keep in mind that he was a fighter pilot, and his experience with hand-held weapons was pretty close to zero except for basic training, and it's unlikely he ever fired a pistol or rifle after that (pilots generally manage to avoid the supposed annual rifle range requirement, exp. during wartime).

And of course he's a RINO anyhow, and doesn't really get the 2nd Amendment. Being a whiney, left-tilting old goat, he really thinks that people should rely on the cops to protect them.

As much as I'd prefer to back a war veteran who proved himself in combat and suffered greatly at the hands of the enemy ..... I have very little use for the guy, and don't trust him at all on important conservative issues.

John McCain has always been a RINO. Republican In Name Only. Which is why the leftist media promoted him so hard against Romney in 2008. At that time they did not want a Romney / Obama race.

He's been pretty public about the idea that civilians and military should be different with regard to firearms and doesn't think that the distinction of full auto or select fire is enough. He's never really indicated that he believed that civilians were well trained enough or responsible enough to privately own handguns and high capacity semi-automatics, and tends to vote as if he believes they don't. It's a bit of an odd dichotomy given the level of crime due to Arizona's inability to control their border that civilians have to face in that part of that state.

Senator John McCain had looked his worst enemy in the eye

before some fathers started having their weekly wet dreams.

USA military veterans earned their liberty to speak freely.

    As has this one too.

    Yup.

Captured by 'the system' in spite of the wishes of his constituents.
