Trying to build a custom PC for my mom for Mother's Day, not entirely sure what components to use?

My mom has been using her old XP machine for a while, and it's been getting really loud, so I decided to build one for her and give it to her as a gift.

This PC will, essentially, be a Facebook machine, as that's all she uses computers for: Facebook, Facebook games, email and paying bills. Occasionally, she will play games like Bejewled or Mazhong. She also watches YouTube videos often.

Which parts should I use? Any help is appreciated. :)

Update:

@Jack: Mother's Day is 10 days from now.

Update 2:

EDIT: My brother is getting her a laptop to use when she's on the go, but she prefers to use a desktop, because, for her, they work better.

Update 3:

@Jack: Well, there's the thing. In the UK, it's on Sunday the 10th. Here in the US, it's Sunday the 12th.

    Hello,

For me I will buy laptop, WHY it's more easy for them and they can carry it with them.

But if you really want to build go only for budget one's

Cheap motherboard but it will long last: Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS

    RAM: 4gb it's ok already

GPU: depends to you if you want

CPU: go for intel i3 or something that your budget will do

    PSU(power supply): maybe generic

    CASE: generic

If it is getting loud, it is probably over heating and on the verge of death. Try blowing it out with compressed air. If it is only serving Internet browsing duties, and low resource gaming, it would be cheaper to buy a massed produced machine. Sure you can probably build a light duty rig cheaper than dirt, it is the software that is going to kill the budget. If you can salvage the HDD,optical drive, power supply and case. All you need is a mother board, new memory for it (or find a motherboard that uses the memory presently installed in her comp now) and a CPU. If it was a corporate machine, a new OS will be needed, cause the system disk will not jive with the new motherboard. Then you will need to do a fresh install on the old hard drive. Socket 775 motherboards are still plentiful, along with a cheap socket 775 quad core CPU, would be beastly for your moms. Get a q9300 real cheap off eBay.

From a in basic terms hardware viewpoint (the way I appear at computer systems regardless of the company), a custom pc will beat out an iMac. As you've gotten already come to the conclusion that you get extra to your cash, go for the custom pc.
