Trifexis and tick control products?

I have a 6 month-old, 17 lbs mutt that is on Trifexis, but I need some tick control (found two on her today). All the topical treatments I see are flea and tick. It is safe to double up on the flea protection like that or do you know of any products that are specifically for ticks? (My vet is closed for the night or else I would ask her)

I wouldn't use a topical with the Trifexis. Trifexis will take care of some issues with ticks, even though it's not labeled for it. The safest thing to use with the Trifexis would be a Preventick collar. These work great at repelling ticks. I know a lot of people that have raccoon hounds and they use them and they never see a tick. Most raccoon hunters with dogs will actually put collars around their own boots to keep ticks off of them as well.

Your vet should be able to either sell you some or order them. They really work great, and they're worth the money.

Check out the treatment called 'Vectra' Made by frontline. As vet about how you dose the dogs.
