It does make a crooks job safer. After all if your "customers" aka victims don't have guns to defend themselves you can practice you trade in safety.

Gun control already exists. It is just a flawed system. Case and point, the background check system. You give practically all of your personal info to the dealer who calls it into the federal government, who then says yes or no. The issue is that the laws regarding background checks have been ignored. Since the brady law was passed in the 90's there have been only 4 convictions for falsifying the form, when there should be 100,000+.
It really is hard to find a positive to gun control. Registration just gives more power to the .gov, who then (and has done this several times of late) releases the list of owners/carriers to the media who prints it. Jon Bobsteve @ 1999 buick lane owns 1 shotgun 12 handguns and a rifle. Oddly enough, those places tend to get broken into shortly after.
I guess an upside to gun control is that it will increase violent crime, which will fuel another firearm ownership surge. After all, the supreme court ruled that the police have no duty to protect an individual, just investigate the crime after the fact.
Either way, thats not much of an upside. I'd rather just not have an increase in gun control, and have more people alive and well.

As I define gun control; or as you do? You see these two words can mean to different people everything from background checks to banning automatic weapons all the way to taking guns completely out of America and its people. For me sensible controls and regulations making it as difficult as possible for criminal to obtain guns is good gun control. Unfortunately such rules and Controls can never completely prevent the illegal obtaining and use of a gun and still allow good people the right to arm themselves. Here is the conundrum, of you can't keep the bad guys from getting a gun how can one dare to suggest the good guys not be allowed to defend themselves in kind? I think good laws geared to maximize the reduction of gun crime can be passed and welcomed but without telling honest people they cannot own a gun and I would support such initiatives. Moreover I support very severe penalties mandated by federal law for any crime committed on which a gun is used. I mean no plea bargains, no paroles, and no wrist slapping. No judge , attorney or jury can reduce a charge or change a sentence, say fifteen years just for having a gun tucked in your belt during a robbery. Get caught, get convicted and you get 15 Years period. 25 if you pointed it at another person and forty to life of you fired it. Put some teeth in the laws we have, make the criminals pay dearly and continue to strive for better regulations for both buyers and sellers. But more than anything do it with balance, common sense, and caution.

Criminals don't pay any attention to laws... If guns were ever banned than only the bad guys would have them..Criminals prefer unarmed victims!!
Having a gun will not help all the time but being defenseless will never help..
When seconds matter calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option.
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!
**Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens.**

The advantage that comes with better gun control are more bullets spot on target accurately hitting exactly where you are aiming. The trick is a steady two handed grip, and lots of practice.

The funny thing is when I wrote my Senator to state my objection to proposed legislation against so called assault style firearms, the reply I got back stated that the pistol grip actually made the firearm too accurate and deadly. I mean he actually implied that he wanted us to have inaccurate firearms. I mean really. Come on the purpose of a firearm is for a clean kill. Accuracy is imperative to this and anything that helps ensure accuracy and a clean kill should be embraced not legislated away.

From a criminal's perspective:**** yeah! Now I can rob the bank without having to worry about getting shot! From a crazy guy's perspective:**** yeah! Now I can kill as many people as I want without fear of getting shot! From a stupid liberal's perspective:I feel so safe!*suddenly becomes a victim of a shooting spree. From a smart person's perspective:Oh ****!A crazy guy could come shoot me and this large crowd of people any second now!*gets shot by a crazy guy. From a foreign invader's perspective:Oh,just blow all the major military bases and then occupy a major city, kill any unarmed citizens who resist our rule! So,yeah.Gun control, the positives are for bad people.

Government can easily oppress and enslave the people....
No, that's a negative.
Peaceful citizens are disarmed while the criminals are not...
No, that's a negative as well.
The USA can be more like North Korea...
Dammit that isn't it either...
America's cities will just as safe as Detroit and Chicago....
Except that didn't work out too well...
Yep, it's a real stumper!

The founders came up with reason enough to not have it. Reason enough to include protection against it over 230 years ago. I'm sorry but ignoring the actual problem will never fix it. We need to repair our damaged mental health system. How more obvious can it be?

The very best part of gun control? You hit exactly where you aim.
Other than that? I think everyone should have control of a gun. The idiots and criminals will weed themselves out. Making for a very polite and gentile society.
