Why are parents so protective of their kids and then they turn around and feed them poison?

I mean it is the ultimate irony. GMO's are almost in all the foods at a normal supermarket. The food people eat is literal poison. Fast food which should NEVER be eaten, GMO's, high fructose corn syrup, pesticides, the list goes on and on. I look at shopping carts at the supermarket and they are all filled with highly processed sugary GMO crap. The very few fruits people do buy are not even organic! so they are basically just getting a mouthful of pesticides!

Is it any wounder why so many of us are obese? why 1/3 Americans will get cancer and 1/4 will dies from cancer

ourfood is toxic and it is getting even more and more toxic as time goes on.

Update:

hahah you think a fast food hanburger is the same as one made at home? look at the ingredients list of fast food foods sometimes and you will be shocked, so many things in their and so many things you cannot even pronounce a fast food hamburger is loaded with GMOs and preservatives. Hamburgers should not be eaten and especially ones from fast food

And to the other guy who said i lost credibility by exaggerating will that's too bad cause i did not exaggerate. You are just so blind to how dangerous our food is you think i exaggerated

and too the other guy yea i know what literal means and most of our food is literal poison.

the definition of poison is a substance that enters a living organism and causes death

so therefor most of our food is LITERAL poison

I'd love to know where you get your food. Whole foods (non-GMO, natural, no chemicals, preservative free, no sugar, etc.) are difficult to find in a normal supermarket, so I'm not sure why you would have the need to go into a supermarket in the first place.

It's actually not necessary to buy organic versions of certain fruits. Fruits such as bananas, melons, etc. where you don't eat the peel do not need to be organic.

Buying food at local farmer's markets is ideal.

But to answer your question "Why are parents so protective of their kids and then they turn around and feed them poison?", there are several answers:

-most parents aren't educated about nutrition and the importance of whole food (white sugar vs. honey, etc.)

-convenience - on the way home from a long day at work, it's much easier, less stressful and faster to pick up a pizza than go home, pick beans from the garden, milk the cow, and make a nice homemade stew

-availability - it's extremely difficult to find foods that are free of chemicals and that are actually REAL food

-price - eating whole foods and organic foods is extremely expensive

I am actually a bit of a food fanatic. I'm guessing, just based on some of your comments, that you are not as educated about healthy food as you think you are.

"Hamburgers should not be eaten and especially ones from fast food"

What exactly is that statement based on? You thaw some ground beef from your local farmer (or use ground chicken) make patties and throw it on the grill. Add a whole wheat bun, tomatoes, cheese, a bit of ketchup and mustard, and voila. Add a salad on the side, or some home fries (sliced potatoes baked in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper) and violla - perfectly healthy meal.

EDIT - Poison: Any substance that can cause severe organ damage or death if ingested, breathed in, or absorbed through the skin. Many substances that normally cause no problems, including water and most vitamins, can be poisonous if taken in excessive quantity. Poison treatment depends on the 'substance.

I'm going to speculate that you are either NOT a parent, or you are fortunate enough to be able to buy ALL organic food from either stores like Whole Foods or the local farmer's market.

There might be some difference in the ground beef that one buys at the supermarket as opposed to the ground beef that comes in a fast "food" hamburger. I have heard that there are even checmicals in the "food" wrappers as well. (Not to mention that the wrappers contribute to the landfill/liter problem.)

I would rather buy my five- and two-year-olds non-organic fruits and vegetables than, say, organic candy or organic potato chips. We scrub the produce (even ones with rinds and peels) with straight vinegar and when we rinse, we still scrub.

Yes, I've read "Fast Food Nation" and "The Ethics of What We Eat Why Our Food Choices Matter" as well as other reliable resources.

When you are at a grocery store, and you look into carts, how can you judge when you likely don't know?

When my children ASK for fruits and vegetables and complain when we don't have what they want (i.e., a pepper) at home, or they ASK for them at the supermarket, I know I'm doing something right.

a million learn v. 1000's of examine showing the different. Which do you think of is the outlier? you know that there is not any distinction interior the tip consequence of GMO ingredients and new ingredients created via crossbreeding astounding? One in basic terms is speedier and greater low-fee than the different which takes 1000's of generations to end.

You have a unique definition of 'poison.'

And perhaps you can explain how a hamburger becomes 'poison' when it's wrapped in a paper wrapper and eaten in a car, rather than eaten off a plate? (Surely that's the main difference between fast food and other food. Ground meat is ground meat.)

Why are so many of us obese? Larger portions, less exercise. Simple math -- calories going in exceed calories going out.

Cancer? There are many causes of cancer, but one major factor is simply that people are living longer. Most types of cancer are diseases of old age, so the longer we live, the more likely we are to develop cancer eventually. (Also most of the most common types of cancer -- skin, lung, prostate) have little or nothing to do with diet. (Unless you are including alcohol as 'food.') In fact, the cancer that is most strongly linked to diet is stomach cancer, and stomach cancer rates have dropped significantly. AND, the main dietary link to other cancers is fat -- which has nothing to do with GMOs or pesticides or corn syrup.

The top few causes of death, (heart disease, followed by cancer, strokes, accidents) haven't changed much in the past 60-70 years. (Everyone does need to die from SOMETHING.) It isn't until you get back to the 1930's (i.e. pre-antibiotics) that a lot of people are dying from TB, pneumonia, childbirth complications and so on, and cancer drops from its #2 spot on the list.

EDIT: Fast food burgers have more salt in them than I use. There are no preservatives, and no need for them. (Meat if frozen, and freezing preserves it.)

The ingredients in a McDonalds burger are:

    100% Angus Beef Patty:

    Ingredients: 100% Angus Beef.

Prepared with Grill Seasoning (Salt, Black Pepper)and Angus Burger Seasoning: Salt, Sugar, Onion Powder, Natural (Animal and Plant Sources) and Artificial

Flavors, Spice, Maltodextrin, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Dried Beef Broth, Dextrose, Garlic Powder, Worcestershire Sauce Powder (Distilled Vinegar, Molasses, Corn

Syrup, Salt, Caramel Color, Garlic Powder, Sugar, Spices, Tamarind, Natural Flavor [Fruit Source]), Spice Extractives, Beef Fat, Caramel Color, Annatto and

    Turmeric (Color).

You also don't appear to know what 'organic' means when it comes to food.

You control the things you can control and don't worry about those you can't...

Does it make sense to feed your children only organic everything, keep them from eating anything "bad", but when the kids grow up, they will eat whatever they want? What did you accomplish by not allowing them to eat anything that you don't think is "safe"?

i'm not sure you know the definition of the word "literal."

there's a lot to be desired in this country's eating habits, for sure. you lose credibility when you hysterically exaggerate, though.

Because the parents don't care enough and the food they buy for their children is cheap.

They don't do it on purpose. Some people dont know any better.
