.22lr for summer CCW weapon?

just thinking about caring my sr22 as my CCW gun as my XD is pretty big with shorts and a t shirt and i work out doors and i wont carry my xd if its hot. better than a sharp stick right? i have some CCI quik shot ammo and its pretty nasty for a .22lr and i can shoot it just as good as my full size XD up to a certain point. thoughts? ammo suggestions?

Update:

o yeah and it would be just for this summer until i get some extra $ for a .380 or a sub compact 9mm, more than likely an XDs in 9mm if they ever show up at the shops. i really like my buds lcp because you just through it in your pocket with its little holster but the down side is it takes longer to draw.

Update 2:

good point russ, but with modern ammo it seems to be very reliable, i mean not as reliable as my xd but hey it is something, if all goes to plan i would never have to use it if i ever actually needed to pull it out. but im on an EXTREME budget right now. as soon as work picks up ill buy a proper CCW gun. And thank you for the response and opinion my good man.

I carry a full size sig 226 in the summer in Arizona with a normal inside the waistband holster. I don't see how you would have too much trouble with a XD. If you can't you can't though.

For self defense I wouldn't personally carry a 22lr unless it was my absolute last option. If it is your absolute last option then it is better than nothing.

take a glance on the Sig P239. it relatively is between the few single stack pistols available in the two 9mm, 40 S&W or 357 Sig. I too think of that the thickness of the pistol is extra considerable than the size while it includes conceal skill that's why i do no longer look after revolvers, or intense skill double stack pistols. I used to hold a Glock 23 and enjoyed it, it became somewhat thick and cumbersome regardless of the undeniable fact that. Then I shot a Sig and comprehend would be unable to stand the Glock. interior the less warm months while i'm wearing heavier cloths, I carry a Sig P220 40 5 acp. it relatively is a extensive pistol yet rather narrow so it relatively is easy to conceal. while shorts and T-blouse climate roll around I swap to the P239 in 40 S&W. Being a single stack in 9mm/40 physique length it only disappears in spite of shorts and a T-blouse.

I might consider a .22lr revolver, but probably not a semi-auto. Because if you do use a .22lr handgun, you will likely want to squeeze off multiple rounds, maybe the who cylinder or mag. In my experience .22lr rimfire ammo is not as reliable. If a semi-auto fails to fire, then you have to manually cycle the slide.
