Are our second thoughts always an improvement on the first impulses?
Which ones do you follow, generally, in a given situation?
Thanks for answering :)

I have found that my second thought is usually far better than my first. I can admit to being wrong.
However, my first feeling is usually right. I have regretted many times not trusting my first intuition/feeling. Not to be confused with ordinary thought.
Now "impulses" are a different story. Are they thoughts? Or feelings? My impulse purchases I usually regret, So that would imply they are thoughts. But the marketers, who feed our imulse purchases, use on our feelings to fool us.

'Our' second thoughts.......Are second thoughts at all times in opposition to the first? No; most of the time the same need is the motivator, and the purpose, the goal or the gain remains the same or changed in quantity. The need for protection more times sees extreme change as new dangers are identified: weaponry is upgraded, armor is refortified, fortresses are given higher walls or hidden path ways, the written or spoken is recoded..... The thoughts of others are more likely tested and may be identified as in conflict with the beliefs of others.

I think so. Our animalistic impulses are usually agressive and based on survival instincts at the expense of others if needs be. Our second thoughts that follow these animal instincts are our higher thinking and intelligence that makes us higher than the beasts.

If you train yourself to never at impulsively, you do not have to have regrets or second thoughts. All your thoughts will come before you make a decision. Then, right or wrong, at least you can say that you gave every decision contemplation, applying everything you knew before you decided. The exception is life-saving decisions. Then, if time is of the essence, you make a split-second decision and if it is not the right one, you will not be alive to regret it!

I follow My Gut First and foremost because it is usually right
However, it is not an Impulse, it's an Instinct...

Its an attempt to better our chances..... Of course, i weigh the pros n cons of the first n the second and a later one, if at all, before arriving at a final decision

I consider both possibilitys and weigh them up. It works for the most part, over time your instincts are the same as your formulated ideas

We can't control what initial though occurs to us. But we can control our response.
