Writers, do you have non-human species in your story?

In my current story, not really. One of my main characters is described as having some non-human/vampiric features (pale, semi-nocturnal, physical strength that surpasses her size, an ageless quality) but it's quite subtle and she's never actually called a vampire. In some of my fantasy stories there have been non-human creatures, but this is more of a psychological thriller and the supernatural references are just one possible reading of the story.

No. I don't have much interest in non-human species, so I don't write any. I know, I know, I'm not a typical reader, since vampires and were-creatures are hugely popular.

My present work is the first I've done with humans with paranormal abilities. It presents a lot of problems.

Non-sentient species? Sure, I guess, but mostly, my characters are eating them.

If the story calls for it I guess is the best answer. I tend to write horror and there are sometimes non-humans involved - usually as the threat. In fantasy people often expect there to be non-human races included but I would tend to only have them if they fill a role in the story not just for the sake of it.

I am a fantasy writer, obviously, in fantasy books, there are bound to be non human or non-sentient species, just the creation of my mind's work, so yes there are these strange creatures inside my books.
