Do you support the Second Amendment and oppose all gun regulation?
Edward. Can you recite the second amendment without looking it up?
Oikos. You're sooo close.
"A well REGULATED Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
I was hoping someone would spot the trick question.

The 2nd Amendment's purpose isn't about hunting or protecting yourself from a crazy person. Those reasons came later. The original purpose of the amendment was to arm the people, so that they can not be oppressed by the government. The fore-fathers did just have a revolution years prior. So ya, I support the 2nd amendment, it's apart of the Bill Of Rights- the document made to protect the people from tyranny. As far as the regulations go, I don't mind a ban on fully automatic weapons with large magazines I guess. The bad guys are going to get a hold of guns regardless of any law. However, the crazies that shoot up schools and stuff, aren't pros that shop the black market. Also, semi-automatic weapons work just fine. However, buying a gun the legal way is getting to be difficult; if it's easier to get a gun "off the books" then why promote that by making it harder to do it legally?

No. The Second Amendment is outdated. We no longer rely on militias to defend our nation, and firearm technologies have evolved a lot since the early days of our country's history. We already agree that fully automatics and machine guns are too dangerous for civilian ownership.
Just like how there are regulations on the freedom of speech prohibiting fraud, slander, and reckless endangerment, so too should there be regulations on firearm ownership.
I severely doubt our founding fathers would still claim the right to bear arms should not be infringed if they knew the destructive power of nuclear weapons.

The second amendment does not prohibit gun regulation. It just provides for the militias that were needed in Jefferson's time. It does not say that any kook who beat a murder rap on a technicality can go out and buy a submachine gun.
