Can we all agree that the Dodgers and Angels are playoff contenders?

The Dodgers are 15-3 in the last 18 games and the Angels are 11-3 in the last 14 games. The Dodgers have reached .500 and the Angels are 2 games under and both are closing the gap in their divisions. There is no question that both teams have considerable talent and both are now on a roll. So many on this site wrote them off shortly after the start of the season and is it now time to concede that cream always rises to the top?

    Agree to your statement? NO!

The Angels have a fatal weakness for their pennant hopes, a very severe flaw.

Their pitching staff is not up to a solid pennant contenders quality.

They give up as many runs as the offense can score and that means at best, a .500 ball club.

The Dodgers now have their prime line up on the field and they are destroying the NL West.

I've been saying all season the Dodgers were capable of a turnaround, it was just a matter of getting healthy. And getting Puig certainly hasn't hurt either. If you look at the Dodgers and Angels rosters, both teams are stacked, and they can match up well against any team in baseball. The Dodgers do have a better chance at contending however, as the NL West has underperformed all year, while the AL West may just be the toughest division in baseball (though the NL Central and AL East both could make that claim as well).

No, I cannot agree with the Angels, I don't see them as serious contenders, someone else in the division will need to collapse for the Angels to get back in the picture and I don't see that happening.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, seem to be in cruise control and will make a run at a Championship.

'Closing the gap'? The Dodgers maybe but the Angels are still 9 games out. Almost exactly where they were a month ago. They're not going to catch the A's or the Rangers unless one of them totally collapses and the Angels keep playing great but maybe they can get closer in the Wild Card race.

The Dodgers are in a weak division, so yes... the Dodgers could get into the playoffs. The AL West, not so much.

Yeah. We can also say the same about the Yankees.

I still don't understand this inferiority complex and unnecessary hatred for high payroll teams... would these people prefer every team to spend like the 2013 Marlins?
