What kind of pets do half-bobcat-half house cats make?

She's not half-bobcat, as that mating really doesn't naturally occur. People assume that cats with bobtails are part bobcat - but it's just a fairly common "defect" like a cat born with 6 toes, or with no tail, etc. So she's really a domestic short/long hair cat, and sounds very unique! She's going to take time to adjust to living indoors, but you are correct - she is safer in there. Do get her spayed, vaccinated, flea treated, etc. just like any other cat, and enjoy!

Pointless question because they DON'T EXIST. There are actually NO known matings of Bobcat to housecat contrary to what backyard breeders might want you to believe. You really think a Bobcat would mate with a housecat? Not quite. They would prefer to KILL IT. You have a no breed domestic just like over 97% of the cats on this planet.

If she was born a feral, though, it may some time to make her friendly and willing to be held. Just give her time and get her spayed ASAP. It can be done as young as eight weeks and should be done before four months as that's when kittens can reach sexual maturity.

We have a bobcat that lives in the woods near our house in the country. We have two female cats that have mated with him. This was a witnessed mating. The results are one cat has five kittens four with bobbed tails. The other cat has four kittens three with bobbed tails. We had a very large cat in the past that my vet said was half bobcat. So yes they can mate and my vet says the kittens are all sterile. Just the clarify.

This intrigues me. I have always heard contradictory/mixed feelings about bobcat ownership. I have heard many great stories about people with great luck with bobcats... But NOT cougars!!! I agree, a bobcat can not kill a human... But christ, a cougar? Cougars are true FERAL animals! This does not sound like a good idea! If you must have a wild cat, choose something with less lethal potential, agreed you WOULD make a good darwin awards candidate, LOL! (No offense) But for names, I dunno I always have a hard time with this too, hence why my cat is named Buddy, lol... But I'm sure, with the extensive list of names already posted, that you will fine the perfect name for your new cat friend! Good luck!

I had a cat that was part bob cat. Definitely different than any other cat I've had in my life. He was a cute monster. He was much bigger and looked like a bob cat for the most part.

He would catch huge prey and was known for chasing dogs out of the yard… and I mean big dogs.

They are fine cats to have, but keeping them inside isn't such a good idea. My old cat Angel needed to go outside just to hunt and prowl and be a monster cat. He was definitely a force to be reckoned with, but was super affectionate to people.
