Matt Garza to Texas for Mike Olt, CJ Edwards and 2 more players...?

What do you think? Who won? Who lost?

Why do you think the Cubs would go after a 3rd baseman struggling in AAA when they just drafted a franchise 3B a month ago? I don't get it...

Does this make the Rangers as favorites to win the AL west?

Update:

Justin Grimm is one of 2 other players going to Chicago.

Garza is certainly a good pitcher so I think the Rangers win in the short term, cubs win the deal in the long term. Garza could help the Rangers make a push for the WS this year.

We won't know the other player till a lot later, as this is all they agree upon right now.

What do you think?: Great, i couldn't wait for the trading to begin.

    Who won?: Cubs

    Who lost?: Rangers

Why do you think the Cubs would go after a 3rd baseman struggling in AAA when they just drafted a franchise 3B a month ago?: Scouts see something in this guy, maybe new scenery will be good for him.

Does this make the Rangers as favorites to win the AL west?: Probably overall, but i still believe Oakland has a better team unity and chemistry to win again.

Cubs are planning for the future, we know that. Matt Garza is a free agent after this season, and they know, as i think they have tried, to sign him to an extension but he did want to right away. So they got rid of him and got a couple struggling players that are projected to do good.

Rangers have a ton of starting pitchers, they are just all injured.

I think the Cubs won this trade. They got several players, and traded away a pitcher who isn't as good as people think. Garza is overrated.

And I was wondering the same thing about trading for Mike Olt. They just drafted Kris Bryant so I don't understand why they traded for him. They could have just drafted Jonathan Gray who can throw 100 MPH and traded for Olt instead. They could've gotten Profar probably too instead of going for Olt. They could've done Profar and Edwards for Garza.

I don't think this makes the Rangers favorites to win the West at all. Garza is a #3 starter and a #2 starter at best. I still see the A's winning the west. He has been hot lately, but I think he's just going through a good stretch.

I've heard Justin Grimm as one of the other players. It's way too early to determine who won the trade. I'm not sure that changes much, because I think we needed a bat more than anything.

The Cubs are too dysfunctional to have 3 prospects make a difference, sorry. Rangers are in it right now, a #3 starter will help them.

Cubs won this trade. Stocking up for the future
