Try both sizes on and see which fits better. It depends on how much he has grown and the sizing for each brand.

what is hard about people buying their kid clothes that fit?? does he fit in 5/6? is it getting too small, probably, so go up a size 6/7 maybe....go into stores have him try it on and buy it,, dont shop for kids clothes online

Have him try stuff on before you buy it. he may still be in a 5/6. Clothing from different companies sometimes fit differently size wise.
