How long will it take for my cat to get rid of tapeworms?
So my mom bought me the wrong medication to get rid of my cats worms; she bought roundworm medication instead of tapeworm medication. She's had them for a while now and I was wondering why they seemed to die off but never completely. After going to a professional and having them confirm my suspicions, I was able to ascertain my cat had tapeworms instead of round. I've bought a medication for her, how long will it take her to get rid of them? Should I bathe my cat more often? She doesn't have fleas, and I know all about the risks of having them transmit eggs. What is the chance I could get them too? Is it okay to pet/kiss my cat, or would that transmit them?

I am assuming you bought the prescription tapeworm med from your vet? I hope so. Do not buy stuff from grocery store, etc.
You could of gotten a shot if u were at the vet...they can de worm with a shot too, otherwise one pill. I know coz I have dewormed my cats witgh the pill many times. Usually takes a couple days...but they have to give another pill to kill off the baby tapeworms.
The only way you could get a tapeworm in you is to eat one, but do wash your hands, etc.
Cats can not only get tapeworms from eating a flea that has the eggs, but from flies who also carry the eggs.
The meds for getting rid of tapeworms are strong, so please dont do often and please call your vet to double check on what u should do now.
They probably didnt die off completely coz u have to do a second round to get rid of the babies,,,,,please call your vet.
Hope I have helped coz I have alot of experience in this....
