How do I make this more clear?

I really don't believe in a god. Honestly, completely, sincerely.

No, I don't secretly believe, deep down.

No, I'm not just pretending that there isn't one so I can continue in my sinful ways (I wouldn't have bothered developing a complete, detailed ethical system if that were the case).

No, I don't call upon him in my moments of need.

No, nobody abused me and made me distrustful of people.

No, I don't have problems with authority. If I did, I'd be in jail, or at least without gainful employment.

I spent my college years studying comparative religion and philosophy, continuing into the graduate level. Even after my formal schooling ended 11 years ago, I continued to studying the subjects. I've looked at more arguments than most people will ever be aware of. I have found all of them--yes, every single one--grossly lacking, to the point where the lowest undergrad could have picked it apart, so I do not believe that a god exists.

Yet I hear the opposite all the time. Is there any way to make this any more crystal clear, any way to explain that I don't believe in the exact same way that a person might not believe in leprechauns or unicorns? From believers, is this really so baffling? Do you really think that, in a world in which monotheism was not the norm for most of the world throughout most of recorded history, you might have people who just don't believe in a god? From nonbelievers, have you found any approach to get it through the heads of some particularly thick-skulled individuals that it really is possible to not believe in a god?

Really, I don't see how this is so confusing, but I'm apparently missing something.

There is no clearer way to state that you are an Atheist. I won't condemn you nor treat you any different nor change your beliefs.

I can make one thing clear to you. Just because *you* think something doesn't mean everyone has to think the same thing. I am an atheist and I feel no desire to preach what so ever. You see, I believe what I believe. And I am not insecure in this, I don't need the validation of everyone else joining me and holding my hand. I am sure I am right, for me. But I am perfectly happy to allow others to be right, for them. We are different people, and *I* am ok with that. If you were, too, you would not see the need to get your viewpoint "through the thick heads" of anyone else. You'd be able to live your life and let them live theirs.

I am an atheist. Because the dictionary says so not because I see it as some cause I want to join.

Its very difficult for an indoctrinated person to think outside the box. I think the only way to get to them is to continually make them question their beliefs.

They really don't understand an atheist mindset, because the belief system they use is a fundamental aspect of their entire existence, both consciously and subconsciously.

    They are sheep.

  • At least one should believe that this all happened due to some one who created...if you understand this, the answer would be simple, that there is a creator, who is keeping all the things inline otherwise they might get crashed.

If you completely think you exist, who is that secret "being" inside you that "witness" yourself as a person of what you are. Read about "spiritual science" and you can see things CLEARLY.

No one is forcing you to come here to hear the gospel friend because it's not going to stop unto Jesus returns.

To make it more clear, use less words. Me thinkest that thou protestest too much.
