should i be a nurse rn nursing?
i have a bachelors in science for pre-med (nutrition) . im 22 and im thinking about nursing school for RN.
the only thing that is bothering me a lot is needles i am afraid to hurt people and also cathethers and post-mortem care (yikes!!)
are those things that you get over or learn to deal with? I am mostly looking at this field becase im interested in healthcare and it provides a steady paycheck. Seems like nurses always get jobs too.
thoughts?

I've actually never seen a college offer a degreen in PreMed. I've seen Biology with PreMed emphasis, but never PreMed. Do you have a BA in Nutrition?
If you are unable to overcome your fear of needles, you will not be able to be an RN. Most people can overcome them, some can't. If it's caused you so much fear that it stopped you from being a physician, then it's going to stop you from becoming a nurse.
If you have PreMed completed, you should probably be looking at Physician Assistant programs rather than starting over with nursing. But again, the needle thing.
If nursing is really where your passion lies, then sure, be a nurse. You'll return to school to get your BSN, which will take 18-24 months, assuming all prereqs are completed.

Unless you are one of those people who has a real phobia and feel like passing out/throwing up/major anxiety attack at the thought of needles and body fluids, you will be ok. Noone is comfortable with all that to begin with, its not like we go "yey! time to give a shot" , it is something you get comfortable with, with practice. None of us want to hurt our patients. It takes time and practice. So unless you have an intense fear that literally paralyzes you, a real phobia that I know some people have, then you will be ok!

You will get used to it as you learn and work. I was like that too but now am fine with it
