You will need to look up Jane Austen with your web-browser, or read a biography or two about her from your library. [The Penguin and Oxford editions of her works usually have small autobiographies.]

Jane had a couple of relatives who were involved in scandals. Her father's sister may have been [note I said may have been] the mistress of Warren Hastings [I don't know if he was Viceroy of India or Governor General of one area of India for the East India Company. A big wig, anyway.] Her aunt Leigh-Parrot was gaoled for shoplifting lace in Bath, which had a 'death or transportation to Australia' penalty. She got out of it.

Anyway, if you read Claire Tomlin's biography of Jane or look up the websites devoted to her, you'll probably find a citation or two about those scandals.

I think you mean "little known". An "unknown" fact wouldn't be something we could tell you because we wouldn't know it.

She's always been seen as a spinster who wrote a great deal about things of which she didn't have direct experience -- love, marriage, relationships between men and women in general. But there's reason to believe that she was in love at some point and possibly even planning to marry, but the family of the man in question interfered. Whether Jane was heartbroken or not, we don't know. Perhaps she poured her feelings into her books, in which women not only find love, they are able to marry their loves, however unlikely their marriages may seem.

It was Austen, not Austin, for one thing and for another, all unknown facts are unknown so I know none about the Divine Jane.

*According to her niece, Jane Austen always wore a cap.

*Jane Austen had six brothers and a sister. Both she and her sister Cassandra died unmarried.

*The disease that Jane Austen died of at the age of 41 was never diagnosed in her lifetime. It is thought to have been Addison’s Disease, a tubercular disease of the kidneys.

*In December 1802, Jane Austen accepted a marriage proposal from Harris Bigg-Wither.

After a restless night thinking about it, however, she changed her mind and turned him down.

*In her lifetime she completed six novels.

*Jane Austen was born in Steventon, a village in southern England in 1775.

*In 1783, Jane Austen and her older sister Cassandra went to be educated by their aunt Ann Cooper Cawley.

I know a few more but I can't be bothered to type them all out. Sorry.
