Why is my 3yr old having nightmares?

I don't ever remember having nightmares when I was 3, then again I barley remember being 3.

My daughter is having nightmares a lot lately. She wakes up dripping in sweat and crying and too scared to tell me what happened. Most of the time she says the monster is going to get her.

I have no idea what to do, I just let her sleep with me when it happens but now she's wanting to sleep with me all the time and is scared to sleep by herself. Her bedtime is 8 every night and she's not going to bed until around 10-12,

What could this mean?

If your child has snuck in while you watched a scary movie that could be it.

Or abuse of anykind from someone or an older kid telling her a story to scare her.

Also it could be night terrors. She wouldn't really remember to many details of them if they were night terrors and she may be hard to wake up.

What kind of things do you have in your house?

What kind of shows/movies do you watch?

What kind of music do you listen to?

All these things could be allowing an unwanted presence in your house.
