HELP....my cat hurt himself?

Tinker is a 15 year old black and White male. he likes to climb on things and jump around on the furniture. he was just an hour ago jumping on the refrigerate and he lost his balance. he fell on his side and i think he dislocated his hip.

i called the vet, and they told Me that if it is a dislocated hip, then it will cost nearly $300 to fix. i told them that i cannot afford that and they said that to put him down would be $200. i can't afford that either. so i called to see if the humane society could take him, and they said that they require $150. how do they expect people to give pets the best care possible if they charge so much money.

anyway, i am waiting for a call from someone that may be able to help. i am praying right now that it is not a serious injury because of the amount of money involved. i also do not want to put him down. that would be bad. he is in a large dog kennel away from my other cats. so that they cannot mess with him. i gave him a litter box, food and water. he also has a comfortable place to lay.

he is stretching the leg though it hurts, and he is trying to stand on it. meaning he it putting pressure on it, but it just hurts. please tell me that it isn't serious. i am scared. he growls hen he moves it that how i know it still hurts. he is also digging to get out of the kennel. i just put him in there to keep him from injuring it further and to prevent the other cats from picking on him.

Update:

i didn't adopt him, he was given to me by someone that was mean to him. for you information, i spoil the hell out of him. i freaking cook for him. full meals. he gets dry food all the time, wet food heated in the microwave, and a side of chicken or raw turkey slightly heated. i also brush him. he has all his shots, neutered. and eats very well. i paid $50 for the neuter. and the shits are only $10 each. do you get the difference.

my place is better than where he was, that place was not feeding him. they ere throwing him, kicking at him. letting him potty here ever he wanted and i found out that they were making him smoke pot. now you tell me which life is better for him. me or them?

Update 2:

WARNING: i report jerks that are mean. keep it up stupid heads. someone need to just answer the question and not insult me. i am trying to get my cat some help. i have a neighbor trying to call people so that i might be able to borrow some money. i just want to know what is wrong with him and will it heal.

It sounds like you are doing what you can to help your cat. At 15 years old it could be a few different things that are wrong. Without an x-ray a vet can't 100% tell you the problem. Keeping him at this time in a large kennel with food, water and litter box is a great idea. When you can call different vets in the area to find one that can help you at the least cost. Fees do vary so call many. Before any tests are done ask for an estimate so you know exactly what things cost. Often a vet will say 'we need to do this' and then take the cat away before you can say no. Be aware.

This could be something simple as arthritis (older cat) and the fall aggravated it. Strict cage rest and perhaps pain medications could help. Don't give up hope - do your best and I hope for the best.

I'm not trying to sound smarty, but if you don't have the available money to pay a vet to treat your cat's broken bone, why don't you just go down to the bank and BORROW the money? I've done that several times when I was faced with a large, unexpected vet bill.

You're incorrect. He may have been given to you, but you have definitely "adopted" him. You cook for him, feed him wet and dry food, brush him, and have had him vaccinated and neutered. That is "adopting" him.

Why would you buy a cat if you cannot pay for expensive vet bills? That's the real question... Sorry if i am being hash but that's really what comes across ..
