When referring to today's Goth people, are you supposed to...?

...capitalize the G or leave it lowercase? Or is it just a matter of personal preference?

Update:

If any of you are going to say something mean about them like some-yank did, then don't bother answering, or keep your opinion to yourself.

Update 2:

@O La La, I meant if you have a negative opinion, keep it to yourself. Sheesh.

Y'all are annoying me, so I'm resolving this question.

Google refers to ' the Goth subculture', therefore it has a capital.

I prefer to use lowercase and believe that is the proper way in reference to the modern subculture. Often programs, etc. will say that's wrong and want it to be capitalized, like I'm sure Microsoft Word does, however I believe that's because Goth, in the sense of the Germanic tribes like the Ostrogoths and Visigoths, is a proper noun. In the sense of the modern subculture though, I don't consider it a proper noun, so it wouldn't make sense to capitalize. Like if I say, "I'm a goth," I wouldn't capitalize it. Or obviously as an adjective like if I talk about goth music or goth fashion, I wouldn't capitalize it either. And I don't generally see other subcultures like punk capitalized, so it wouldn't make sense to capitalize goth.

First you ask a question, and then "keep the opinion to yourself". Nevermind the proper answer! You're mean, Moonchilde!

Consider that "goth" is an adjective, not a proper name. Lower case seems fine.

    Happy now?
