When have Democrats shut down the government to defund a bill?

Not in John McCains lifetime. ;)

To my knowledge, the Democrats never did. This shut down was totally unnecessary and it is making people angry. I think if this continues the Republicans will be voted out of existence.

The Republicans shut down will costing over 10 billion dollars every day the government is shut down and for what? Obama care has already been funded and kicked in at midnight. People are signing up on line. It will go into effect January 2014.

The Democrats have never seen a program they don't think is a good idea - that's why the government is $17 trillion dollars in debt. That's close to a quarter of a million dollars for every actual taxpaying household that the government has pissed away, already spent even before the "Affordable" "Care" Act started.

Democrats get things done. Republicans get things undone.

They're spoilt brats, acting like 6 year olds to get what they want.

There hasn't been a democrat in the last 75 years that had the thought cross their mind that "we might be in danger of spending too much money."

Not one. They just don't have that ability hard wired into them.

If you are a democrat, your understanding of money is that it is something that comes from other people's labor and resources, never your own.

They have shut it down many times to attempt to fund bad legislation, Reagan let them do it 6 times, he had some balls, well actually he knew that liberals are really wimps and just stepped on their vaginas, but hey that's another story

Tip O'Neil shut down the government over giving a pay raise to congress. I think that is much worse.

I don't know but it's not even a bill; the crazy thing about it is it's law.
