Effective Saturday, October 12, 2013: Due to the federal government shutdown, the DC Lottery?

has suspended the redemption of winning DC Lottery tickets until further notice.

The reasoning, "The answer is complex. Without a federal appropriation of its fiscal year 2014 budget, the DC Lottery is temporarily unable to honor winning tickets. As a result, all prize payments are suspended until further notice; however, all DC Lottery winning tickets will be honored upon the resolution of the federal government shutdown."

Lottery operations are self-funded. Isn't this just a cunning plan or action designed to use the "federal shutdown" to their advantage?

go to SuperLottoMagic. com and register as a captain, then recruit your team. You make money off of them even if your numbers don't win, plus you get 10% if anyone in your team has a winning number :)

I suppose this is the least of our worries, although I'm sorry if it's affecting you. I don't know how lottery operations are funded, but don't they have to be operated by human beings, employees of the government? and since the government is shut down, and federal employees are furloughed, no one is there to even write a check and send it out?
